Something the missus actually wanted, AND in her favourite colour? Guess it was worth stopping up after all. :p
Great deal, btw. Now to try and keep it a surprise until Xmas...
#8
Want, but maybe don't actually really need. Heat added.

Just Bought 1 that's actually a good price they are always over £200

When it's delivered look out for the flexi beat attachment which is often missed from the contents. Great mixer and the best price I've seen
#11
Fantastic price, it's £369 at tesco for this colour!
#12
This is in the Mix.
#13
Great price!! The colour means not everyone buys it, so clever John Lewis. Fantastic mixer.

I need something to knead about 1.5kg of dough on a regular (daily) basis. But I don't need to do anything fancy with it (mixing stuff in or whatever or making cake mixture) just bog standard dough. Is this good for that? Are there any cheaper alternatives?

A bread maker like the panasonic one can kneed dough. But only 600g at a time.

Must resist....must resist

I was hellbent on getting a stand mixer but the same as you, it was only for dough, I then realised I could just get a breadmaker for the kneading function, I have a Panasonic and the largest amount on the instructions is 600g. I do about a kilo regularly with no trouble. I don't usually let it do a full cycle though, I just stick all the ingredients in, let it go for 10 minutes,(45 for full cycle) then give it a 5 min knead and it's done. I think it could take 1.5 kilo. U might have to give it a little hand to make sure it all mixing OK though.

I'm not so bothered if it can do all 1.5kg at once, just that that's how much I tend to do daily. It's laborious doing it by hand every day. If you don't mind. could you tell me what model yours is?

It's the Panasonic sd 2500 and it's been brilliant. I think I I saw a deal for it on here, was meant to be £120 and got it for 60 something

2 years with JL

5 Years with Kenwood.
#28
Only 500w guys & so don't expect big batches at a time.
#29
id be happy with either this or kitchenaid tbh as they come out fairly even in most reviews

missed this deal so searching for both and getting frustrated seeing all the black friday ka deals in the us for around $100!
#30
striped one still in stock and £180 off bit a bit dearer at £200

Saw this on the leaked John Lewis PDF that was posted a few days ago after having my eye on the Kenwood Chef for £150. Jumped on at 12.10 and although the site was slow I managed to check out. So pleased I saw the PDF or I would have missed this. This unit is much nicer looking and more like the Artisan mixers which my wife has always wanted. Know she will be happy with this though and user reviews are really positive.

Out of stock - I had one in my basket - got the kids to school as didn't want to be late - come to checkout and its gone :-( I guess I wasn't 100% sure about spending £169 on something for myself right before Christmas and now the decision is made for me
#33
Quality, tempted but resisting for now! Head added.
#34
out of stock
#35
Unfortunately, this won't make you a better cook.
#36
Bought the striped "Barcelona" one last week from Sainsburys for £179, and swapped £20 of nectar for £40. Meaning the striped one for £159! Comes with flexi beater attachment, AND says 5 yr guarantee on the box.
Id imagine the JL ones are 5 year too, just JL offering their own 2 yr guarantee.
#37
The missus wants one of these but she just won't like the purple one. If it was red I'd get it. :p
#38
Wish it was red to match everything :( still tempted though
#39
What is the difference between the various colours?

Is it just that colour?
#40
ATTENTION ANYONE WHO MISSED OUT - I strongly recommend calling your local JL store, ask them to do a stock check elsewhere (there were units available when I enquired) and they can get the product sent directly to you for the Black Friday price! Phew!
