"This Kidde 0914UK is a compact and basic smoke alarm for protection to the family and home. The Kidde 0914UK is easy to install; it has a sealed-in power source so this will reduce user-maintenance; and it has a test button to check battery and alarm operation. Also fitted to the Kidde 0914UK is a red LED to indicate unit power is on. This great safety device comes with a 3 year alarm warranty and is BSI kitemarked. The 0914UK is supplied with a powerful long life 9 Volt Battery as standard. Kidde recommend that Ionisation alarms are quicker at detecting fast flaming fires. * * Kidde also recommends that for maximum protection that both ionisation and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed."

No but Les Dawson turns in his grave.

Do you really want to make your savings by buying cheap fire alarms? I wouldn't mind spending a decent amount of money on this kind of thing.

Give you local fire station a call and they will come round and fit smoke alarms for free (usually one per floor). You even get a little bit of fire safety info too.

And whats more, when they go flat, give them a call again and they'll replace the alarms with new ones!!

a fire station will only give you 1 per floor, i like to have 1 in every room in the house. heat added shame this wasn't around before i already spent £13 on 2 at the weekend. Will get these too though the others are battery so use these ones up first.
Bet they run out before they're supposed to though, i bought 10yr ones that ran out after 5!

I'd hope the Fire Dept would have better things to do than to come and fit smoke alarms for you. At this price and with the use of a small drill and a screwdriver it's not rocket science!! Voted HOT Thanks!;)

so it doesn't matter how much money you are earning or how much you have stored away the Fire Service will still provide and fit smoke alarms for free, Sounds like yet another wonderful Labour idea to spend money. It would be interesting to know exactly how they do spend their working hours. There is no reason on this planet why a perfectly able bodied person cant afford to buy and fit a smoke alarm.

As far as quality is concerned I have used this make before and find it just as reliable and good value.

Eeeer, no, I have paid more than my fair share of taxes! I'll claw back whatever I can thankyou very much. But to be honest, I will most likely not bother as I'd feel like a right mink calling them out for this. yet again, its the lazy dole bums that will befit from this.

Since this is Expired I thought I'd mention that the same ones are available in ASDA for £3.

I've got quite a few of these and they seem OK to me. No bright lights flashing all the time to annoy you, small and compact and with a bracket fixing so you can get it down easy to change battery.

I'd also rather have the government paying fire brigades to come fit these (they also do a house fire assessment and put these in the correct locations rather than where looks nice, from what I've heard) which may actually save lives than some of the stuff they spend money on..
