  A Carbon Monoxide alarm may have saved my life; my boiler was fine, but one of the other apartments in my building had a dodgy boiler and the carbon monoxide gas was seeping under its door and through its letterbox, across the hallway, and into my home in the middle of the night and setting my alarm off! We'd have never have known without the alarm...

  Nabbed one, good price. Our last one triggered when the boiler was not burning correctly. Might have saved our lives but we were without heating for three days as a chap from National Grid had to come around immediately to seal off the boiler and turn off the gas, and then a long wait for an EOn engineer to turn up to complete repairs.

  Quite a few reports of false alarms on this model, wonder if it would it be worth spending the extra £7 on the CO-9D or the Aico Ei208 (made in Ireland)?

  These are great. I have had one of these for over 2 years - no fake alarms, and beeps when the battery needs replaced.

  Thankyou so Much Montblanc! The link you posted is for a Gas detector but exactly what I was looking for months now. Really useful if you have an elderly parent who uses an older gas hob/cooker without a built in thermocouple. Definitely a Life saver!

  I also installed a Kidde CO detector a while ago, and it went off after a while. Upon investigation by the gas safety people, the flue seal had become inadequate and CO was getting into the room. The simple act of installing this unit possibly saved my life and the lives of my wife and daughter.
  
  I think they need replacing after 6-7 years, so even if you have one, it's worth checking to see whether you need to replace it.
