Looks like a good deal for 10 years with no battery changing and a warranty for the period. Also has a hush button for when the toast gets burnt.

The 0910UK is the ideal smoke alarm combining long-life and peace-of-mind protection with high-specification.

Warranted 10-year long-life lithium power cell for worry free protection, the sealed in power source - reduced user maintenance with no battery removal or theft problems. This unit has an end of life battery warning - gives clear indication of when unit needs replacing at end of life.

Red hush button - easily identified feature to temporarily silence a nuisance alarm. Aids operation of alarm test and hush facilities for the visually impaired.

Easily adjustable mounting plate - simple for installer to attach plate to wall or ceiling and then connect alarm unit and align for aesthetics.

Tamper-resist alarm feature - minimises removal of alarm during life-time.

Self activation - alarm is activated on attachment to the mounting plate. This feature ensures users receive full 10-years of alarm life from the time of fitting.

Deactivation feature - lithium cells can be deactivated after a 10-year life time for safe, environmentally friendly disposal.

Ionisation technology - quicker at detecting fast flaming fires.

Hot for landlords but a bit of a strange device for a normal domestic setup.

How many people in the UK do you think have a smoke alarm lying about that they haven't put back up yet from when the batteries went months ago?

I have one that I haven't put back up yet.

But I have 2 others hardwired & another battery combined CO2 & smoke.

People buy smoke alarms? I just rung the fire brigade to fit mine. Is this area specific?

You're missing the point. This is clearly designed for landlords or at least environments where tampering is an issue.

I am not missing the point.

I think you may be missing the fact that lots of people forget to replace the batteries.
