i know this aint the HDX but good price as these sell for £139 on amazon for the 16gb version and with the £30 argos voucher effectively brings it down to £79!

I called argos to confirm the vouchers!

Lots of Kindle Fire offers around. Looks like retailers are clearing them before new versions are announced.

However, still a good deal.

Is the screen on a fire as good for reading as the normal kindle? Thx

Your talking about the 8gb version this is the 16gb...with prime it would be £109 but with this deal you get a £30 voucher!

Not if you are using it outside in sunny conditions.

It won't be as the Kindle has an E ink display which reduces stress on the eyes compared to an LCD screen.

Of course a Kindle is limited to reading & basic surfing.

Possible to get a further £10 off in store by combining with the amex foursquare offer

http://m.hotukdeals.com/deals/amex-foursquare-new-deal-argos-10-back-for-30-spend-1925826

But that expires today (31st July)

They are going cheap because there is an known issue with the motherboard. Eventually the unit will not charge.

I know this because I had to send my Daughter's (muched loved) one for repair because of the same issue. I was advise that it is an common fault on the HD Fire.

That said, for (in effect) £79, I would say go for it. But DEFINITELY take out the extended insurance so you can get your refund, when I does go.

was that the 1st Gen, 2nd Gen or all Kindle Fire HD with the motherboard fault?

I have just picked one of these up from in store and the receipt only printed two £10 vouchers. I queried this so they rang head office who confirmed this was correct. Has any one received £30? Basically told it was £10 for kindle and £10 for spending over £100

i havent ordered it yet so couldnt comment on the vouchers i get paid tomorrow so was gonna get one then! its weird coz i rang head office as well and spoke to them, and the women on the phone even went and doubled checked with her supervisor and confirmed it was £30 total in vouchers!

i just rang them again and spoke to a pauline and she even confirmed its £30! seems like the in-store staff havent got a clue!

Both the advertised £20 off the Kindle deal and the £10 off £100 deal both end on 5 August so it makes sense I suppose that the £20 deal does include the £10 deal.
What is annoying though is that deals on other products do have some small print which says "this deal includes the £10 off £100".

The 2 x £10 vouchers do appear on the till receipt. Its not as thought he staff in store are deciding what to give me which suggests this is right.

I will be interested in your experience if/when you buy it.

The difference of only getting £20 in vouchers, instead of £30, would be a deal breaker for me.

yeah does makes sense but i'm really annoyed about this as i have rang them twice now, once yesterday (before i submitted this post) and today both confirming you would get £30 in vouchers and they even checked with there supervisors, as i wouldn't of done this post otherwise! there is another similar post for argos vouchers on a tablet heres the link;

http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-a8-8-inch-tablet-16gb-129-99-get-40-argos-vouchers-argos-1964850

and on that post a hotukdeals member only got £10 at first and he had to prove it by showing them the deal on the argos website before they gave him the extra vouchers...absolute joke!

I reserved today and collected this afternoon.

All I appear to have received is some voucher/card thingy with, they said, £10 credit.
Naively thought the £20 vouchers would be in box with the product but no, nothing.

May as well have waited for a new Amazon deal

You should have received at least £20 in vouchers...what is wrong with Argos atm!

Argos is staffed by people who have barely passed 5 GCSEs.

Had an online chat with a lady called Jacky.

Very nice and helpful.

Shall receive the £20 vouchers next time I go to the store with my receipt.

An inconvenience, yes, but errors happen.

Did you get the £10 voucher at first and now have to go back to get the other £20 to make it £30 vouchers in total? Or you didn't get any voucher and now have to go back and get the £20?

I went and collected one yesterday, it's not a £30 voucher, it's £20. It's a double up of the £10 promotion and this can be seen in the "special offers" part on the app

I am glad it's not just me who got the £20 and not £30.
It would seem from the posts that those who have been told they will get £30 haven't yet actually got them. If anyone does get the £30 could they let the rest of us know. Also details of which store gave them out would be useful for us to follow up. Cheers!

Usual conflagration at shops desperate for our hard earned! Noticed local Sainsbury's had loads of good deals on Nooks, Acers & the like, similar to that Nook for £39.99, but of course no stock! Do the staff bag em before we get dibs? I bet they do?
#35
Collected today, bought one for mum too, it is only £20, the £20 includes £10 for spending over £100.

Been online now... having done research last night and they have increased the price back to £139 :(
