Use code KINDLE4SUN at checkout to get this price. Ends Tuesday

(this is the newest 2nd-gen 2013 model, not the 2012 one)

--

"Also the discount works on the 3g model as well (so £149 rather than £169)."
-gloxton

"Bought one at the start of the week and was delivered just over two hours ago (parcel at home waiting for me) just spoke to Amazon and at first they said return it and re-order, managed to convince them to apply the credit."

Amazon still call it the "All New Kindle Paperwhite". I guess there might be another new one coming in Q4 but y'know, there's always something new around the corner with these things.

You beat me by 4 minutes.
I think Amazon will release a new paperwhite in September but these are great ereaders. Wouldn't change mine.

Also the discount works on the 3g model as well (so £149 rather than £169).

2014 model is already here, only known difference is 4gb memory and its not advertised at all. This is probably newest _2014_ model, but I'm not 100% sure.
#16
Have the older 3G Kindle with keyboard but very tempted by this.

Kobo Aura much better. Poor build quality the PW 2013, had to return 4 due to different faults so went for the Kobo.

A proper revamp of it is due September. Whatever tweak they've made isn't a true 2014 successor.

Have you got a link to this source? I can't find anything that confirms a new model. I'm aware that they've released a new version in Q3 for the past two years though...

Sorry, my mistake (only visible when you click through to the Argos site)

This one (the 2013 wifi) is stated as hold 1,000 books - implying that it's the 2gb version
#23

That's the 2012 version...

Ahah lol... guess i should have refreshed the screen :D

Bought one for my dad two days ago. Think it's worth getting in touch to see if 20 can be refunded? :P

Yes. 100% so

Some of the rumours regarding 2014 Paperwhite discussed HERE

*higher resolution screen
*matte glass screen
*haptic squeezable buttons for turning pages on a screen flush to the edges
*built in ambient sensor to adjust screen brightness

The service from Amazon is excellent, but I am boycotting all things kindle and "fire" extremely poor build quality. Same as above my 2013 PW failed. A free replacement would almost be acceptable.

Yes, they will refund the difference.

You need to turn the brightness UP for daylight and down for dark rooms.
I've got this generation of the paperwhite and it reads excellently in the garden in very bright sunlight and equally well in a pitch-black room. You'll never want a real paperback again after carrying 800+ books around in your coat pocket.

Wondered where there's a decent thread about the 4th gen - cheers. I would add a dark mode with inverted text to my wish list!

Got the first gen ppw I picked up for £45 off eBay and it's the first kindle type that fitted all my needs. If you don't want to wait the 4th gen like I do for the screen dpi its a bargain buy and you won't be disappointed. Get the Inateck synthetic leather slim case it's half the price of the amazon model and better.

Mine will be given to the missus when I upgrade as a backup lol

Anyone comment on how much an improvement this one is over the original paperwhite, is it worth the upgrade?

Having used both there's not a lot between 1st and second gen to bother upgrading unless you want it a bit faster and the backlight to be a bit more even.

The next one I have no doubt will be a different ball game!

I'm sure Amazon offer returns under the distance selling regulations so they should

There's not much they can do to improve it imo,
They're releasing this Kindle Unlimited thing soon though.

I bought one at full price just under a fortnight ago. Emailed customer services about this code, about an hour later had a £20 refund. Say what you like about Amazon, their customer service is superb.

Excellent reader too, really nice to read at night. Thanks op, saved me £20!

Im very tempted but this isnt the lowest its been as i remember ppl were getting vouchers to be had for £69.. Hot price if you want one now...

If it's A 2013 PW then it will be under guarantee and there will be no problem getting a replacement.

Does this also have a proper e-ink display for reading in the sun? My old one with a keyboard might need replacing!
