Another offer from Sainsburys. Not a bad price for the kinect. Lots of stock in my local store too (hull).

Having played on it for a couple of days I can see why people are trading them in. Anyone who paid more than £90 for it is a mug.

It depends on your expectations. There isn't a great deal of difference between this & the Wii - it's fun for casual gamers and beginners. The games so far are very limited & I'm not sure how much scope there is for more interaction. For personal fitness it's an excellent tool. You'll need to be at least 6ft away from the TV.

Personally I think its in a different league to the Wii (& PS3 Move), its far more advanced and even the current Kinect game titles make the Wii seem a poor second. Hopefully future Kinect games will be even better.

I hope you're right. Some of the games are terribly unresponsive - the football and boxing in Kinect sports for example on the other hand the bowing is very good.

If you've already got an Xbox then there's no point in spending £200+ to get a Wii, the fitness board, controllers etc, etc. They do the same job in a different way and of course Kinect games will have vastly superior graphics. Kinect Adventures has the most accurate motion detecting but the games aren't anywhere near a fun as Kinect Sports. The Table Tennis is brilliant and the Beach Volley absolutely brutal on the body, I can barely sit down after last night! I found this post and thought it was very interesting :

I played the hardest mode yesterday and took couple tries to beat it with a friend. We actually play volleyball/beach volleyball so using the same technique in the game help us quite a bit (bump, volley, jump serve, spike)

To start, the insane mode, you need some thinking instead of hard smashing everytime. You need to somewhat trick the computer by light hitting (tip) couple times and follow by smashing. I realize if you play with a friend, positioning is also very important. When you walk up, your avatar will walk up to the net as well. When you walk back, your avatar will follow.

If you want to tip, just jump when you see the jump icon and raise your hand up and move it lightly.

If you want to smash, you actually have to jump follow by a big hand movement like an actual smash in a real volleyball game.

Of all the sport games, I am surprise that Kinect volleyball really play similar to a real game. Some muscle warm up and a bottle of water will definitely help too!

I already had a kinect before posting this deal as it was bundled with my console. Like you I wasn't bother but got it for my kids and wife. Surprisingly though I've found the kinect great fun, even sneakly had a go on my wifes Zumba. I've got a Wii also but the kinect is something else. You can't get away with flicking your wrists like on the Wii, you get a full work out with kinects. For this reason it seems much more involved and more interactive. IMO definitely worth the money.

so is kinect advisable then? or should i just get a wii with wii fit?

Thought you might like feedback on more games. I hope you purchased it, it's a better & cheaper option than the Wii.

Your Shape Fitness Evolved - Good motion tracking but crushingly boring training routines. Only a handful of mini games. Takes far too long to burn calories. No better than a fitness DVD. Cannot understand why it's so highly rated

The Biggest Loser - SHOCKING interface. Like a mouse pointer with trails but the funny thing is the motion tracking in the games is excellent. The games are fun but the interface makes it such a chore to use. Shame because potentially it could have been very good.

Carnival Games - FANTASTIC motion tracking! Very sensitive, detects movements almost instantly. Very impressed. The games are a lot of fun for all the family. Swing the hammer is awesome! It's £22 on Amazon and for that price it's worth buying.

I plan on testing EA Sports Active Fit tonight but by back is very sore at the moment from other games so might have to wait until the weekend! If it's anything like the Wii version we're in for a treat.

As a family game this is easily the best.

i want to get that sports as well.

Still around the £26 range despite being a flawed game! I can't wait to test Active Fit!

how come you have so many kinect games? did you buy them all?
#22
Most of them are not mine. Several of my friends have a Kinect and my son's friend just got one so we're going through their collection.

EA Sports Active Fit 2. What an absolute disaster. The motion tracking is horrendous, especially below the waist. At times you don't even feel as if you're interacting at all. It's a shame because the exercises and mini games are fantastic and the best of the three I've tested. Biggest Loser supposedly has more games. I wouldn't recommend any of the fitness games at the moment. I'm not into dance games and neither are my friends so maybe they are better suited for you.

hey thanks for that info. i'll take note and wont get it.

Bought the kinect today from asda. Have been playing the included game. Plus downloaded 3 kinect demos, zumba and dance central. Girlfriend is sold and wants to get the two games.
