Wheres the proof that it is cheaper in Stores?
Was there an advert in a paper?

Its hot enough given the stock levels and lack of package deals without consoles on the high street.

What a joke. How do you get up every morning for another miserable day, MacDowner?

I cant believe that these things cost as much as the console, I think we should boycott until they give it a realistic price.

Still voted hot as best price at the moment

I'm in a quandry...

Been considering getting a secondhand Wii and new Wii Fit Plus for around £150 altogether, but we already have four xbox360's, I could just get this instead.

Mainly for exercise, but my lad loves Metroid, gah decisions!

It's a bit like when T3 ran a "poll" the other day saying, what's your favourite console, Wii, Move or Kinect.

Move won with over 50% of the vote which is odd seeing as Kinect wasn't even out.

They ended the article with "conclusive proof"

I do love factually accurate journalism.

Rip off, but still hot as cheapest deal with the games.

Gotta get the Wii then!
You can grab Metroid Prime Trilogy preowned for around £20 if you are lucky.
Then there is Metroid Other M which I expect will drop in price soon and Super Metroid on the Virtual Console thing.

people say it is expensive but they dont take into consideration the extra controls you got to buy for the move and the wii to all play together.... you can have 6 people using at once, most people will not have the room for 6 so maybe 4 max so if you had a wii and bought 3 extra will remotes, 3 extra nunchucks and 3 motion plus it would cost you around £180 - £200 so now say its more expensive

i like your verdict and actually agree - plus the fact that this is far far more advanced , oh and its als voice activated which will be great when watching dvds and you cant find the remote !!
Xbox pause , xboox play - the more i think about it the more im tempted to buying it .

Eh? You do know that the Kinect can only fully track 2 people at a time right?

although from what we saw of the device at E3, it could be possible for up to six to swap into and out of "active play" fairly quickly and seamlessly, Ive been on dance central last week and we had 3 of us dancing at once, it might only fully track 2 people but you can still have people in the background (thats what we were doing with dance central)

also i have just bought kinect with sonic and it is 149.98 in store, it now shows on the website, add the kinect (by-itself) and in the basket on the right hand side it offers sonic for 19.99!

That's what I thought too =S
And for multiplayer to work properly I heard you need about 8ft of space to move about...fine for living rooms but not for a majority of bedrooms.
A 360 and Kinect is way more expensive as it stands at the moment.

Edit - Spongebrick: The reviews for Sonic Riders aren't too hot...sounds very unresponsive to your movements making it frustrating to play which is a shame.

you may well be right about that however i can trade it in or sell it for more than £19.99 so win win either way as i could just get a different game

No the kinect only works for up to 2 people. Every single console controller has active play (hint it is called passing the controller around), also every single console can any number of people in the background. It is too expensive at the moment, still looks cool but too expensive.

It's far too expensive.
You need a room the size of half a baskeball court for the camera to recognise you.
And it's more laggy than Nora Batty's knicker elastic.

This device is not appearing in my living room anytime soon ...

That's a bit of an over-exaggeration X)

I'm sorry but what a massive waste of resource i'm a gamer at heart with my ps3 and xbox 360 which i favour .... and this is a complete waste of time with very poor launch titles and i don't see it improving by much ... I wish the new consoles were coming out a bit quicker to give us real gamers something to look forward too insead of this overpriced pile of rubbish

rant over lol

It's not a piece of junk. The tech is sound in both. It's just that neither have any decent games because it's really hard to come up with decent control ideas outside party games and sports. Unlike the Wii and Move though I don't see this being any good for FPS.

My brother picked one up and looks like it'll be returned fairly soon, he has two 8 year old kids who are already fed up with it not tracking their movements properly. Plus they wanted to play it in their bedroom and don't have enough space.

Get the Wii, the lag in Kinect games is very noticeable especially if you're a regular gamer. Also the so called best game released Dance Central isn't really tracking your movements as you think, just try playing it without doing much and you'll still get a good score. Smoke and mirrors.

Kinect is an excellent piece of hardware. Easy to set up, easy to use. I agree games arent great at the moment, but can only hope they will improve.

Kinect tracks only 2 people at a time but does it well. Voice controls are great also.

Kinect isnt for "hardcore" gamers - but excellent for people with kids or just like gadgets. And I have not seen any lag of note when i've played it.

My 8yr old loves Kinectimals and the Kinect Adventures is a decent effort at showing what the Kinect can do.

The "real" demos I've seen on youtube are not that good - (mistakes, accuracy and lag) unlike the "polished" Ms adverts.
#31
BBC click said there is lot of latency issues with it also the voice commands only work within kinnect applications, not the video library.
#32
That's a great price. You can also get Kinect (inc adventures) and Kinect Sports for £149.99 in Argos if you buy a Kinect, which will earn you a £10 discount voucher that you can put towards Kinect Sports, which is £30 in. Possibly a better deal than the one here as Riders is getting slated, where as Sports is meant to be the best game on Kinect so far.
#33
Same offer in Sainsburys in store at the moment picked one up today with Sonic. £149.99

There was also a keep fit game and a 14 in one game avalible in the deal, sorry I don't remember the titles

I'm not worried about how it preforms really, just a mug for gimmicks.
#34
I bought the Kinect with Kinect Adventures yesterday from Comet for £129.99. I'm sure it'll come down in price soon, but I couldn't wait! :)

Oh, btw, you do need at least 6 feet of clear space from the sensor and yourself, and about 2 foot behind you, which I suspect is going to be the big talking point.

That's the deal killer for me, and the main reason I'm not getting it any time soon. If the games improve, it'll have dropped in price by then, and it's way too expensive to buy just in case things get better. I don't care how supposedly advanced the system is, there's no way I'm paying £150 for a new controller. Until then, I'll stick with my Wii for motion titles and the standard 360 for everything else...

Honestly i've played it as my friend recieved it months ago from Microsoft to test drive, and there is a little bit of lag when its tracking, but it does do quite well, but it does make a fun play and is very enjoyable.

Good price, and the space requirements are not as bad as expected, it depends on your height.

Got mine at midnight on release date, it does have some minor lag issues and yes the voice commands are very limited more of a gimmick to be honest.

It is just too expensive at the moment and the danger is that more shovelware will be produced, jury is still out here but kids and I spent best part of three hours on it yesterday.
#39
Got mine today for xmas so locked away, going to need a wall mount and an extending arm of some sort but should be all good on Xmas day !.

I think for all the people who are inputting their two penneth who dont actually have one or have never used one in a home environment have no real need to input on this device.

I received my Kinect yesterday set it up with ease and had it instantly tracking my movements and the wifes as she was moving around the room un-beknown to her.

Personally i was pretty impressed with the technology.. The sensor picks up even the slightest of movements and unlike the Wii and Move which i also have ( yes im a gaming geek ) the kinect has full body tracking.. Meaning its rather funny when you start doing stupid things like star jumps and your avatar is copying you.

My living room is far from massive yet it tracks well and voice recognition is good ( what little of it there is, dont be taken in by the adverts )

The only downside is the games are not exactly brilliant at the moment, but they do allow you to get a feel of what the device will be able to do in the future..

Brilliant if you want to video chat to " Actual Friends " over you Xbox - Not random people you meet over Xbox live.

Yes its expensive but there is nothing else like it on the market at the moment in my opinion.. I really wish people would stop comparing it to Move and Wii because it just isnt the same kind of tech.

The above are my opinions only of course.
