does it really need a 2nd post?? or is the OP a heat ****??

    It's not a 2nd post, it's a different deal.

Available at a different price and from another website. Stop being rude and ungrateful.

I don't think they are a good buy for the simple reason that everyday they are getting cheaper and i bet within a few weeks you will be able to get a decent drive like the M4 or 830 for around the same price and you lot will all be kicking yourselves, these drives have halved in price in the last couple of months and will continue to fall or they will be replaced by something faster like the Revo drives and the manufactures and retailers will be left with 1000s of them sitting on there shelves unsold. The high price of £ to gb where stopping a lot of people buying a SSD so its either drop the price or don't sell any.

I have a Crucical C-300 which was my 1st SSD which i've had over a year and i now have a Sandisk extreme which is blazing fast, ive stuck the Crucial in a new FM1 rig with a K series CPU just to use as a server and anyone who says that you wont tell the difference between a slow drive and a fast drive is really talking **** My Sandisk is much faster than the Crucial, how can anyone say that a 300mbps read speed would be as fast a drive that will do 550mbps that's like saying windows boots on the crucial in 15 seconds and under 10seconds on the Sandisk and the same with opening programs, i've spent hours benching both drives and comparing how they perform and even swapped Sata ports to check which are faster and i can tell you straight the faster spec drive is faster it has nothing to do with spec sheets and the Samsung 830 doesn't get the high speeds using compression so the Samsung drive is much faster in the real world with real Data and is the drive to get.
But, if you take this approach, you would never buy anything. As soon as I buy an SSD, I know full well it is going to get cheaper. The question is whether this is a deal at this moment in time, and I believe it is. It will be cheaper tomorrow, but this deal is today. You could spend forever waiting otherwise...

Apparently they had issues when first released and was fixed with firmware update. If you do buy one check it has the latest firmware on it. :)

Could I suggest referring people to the ebay deal to discuss the merits or otherwise of this particular drive as that ones already been flooded with argie-bargie on the updated firmware... And my head is bloomin' wrecked with it all!?!
    CyDoNiA
Yeah. I have just been reading that thread and theres loadsa posts about the drive. The basic answer is (that I found elsewhere anyway) is that the drives should be fine now with the firmware update that is most likely already on the drive anyway.

The drives are at the slower end of the range but then the price is at the lower end too.

you can install the firmware yourself. It's advisable to do it first, before you start putting anything on it.

Agreed. I was just trying to point out the problems people report should not be there.

Actually, this is exactly the same drive as the eBay one as the model numbers quoted in both places are identical. The only "real" difference is 1p. :D

Everyone talks about the failure rates of SSDs so I am still unsure if I can be bothered saving a few seconds here and there as a boot drive. Then again in my work (in IT) I have seen plenty of HDD's fail within weeks of being bought.

Thing to remember is people only post online to complain about things. Not many people will take the time to post online saying "my SSD runs great no problems).

My SSD runs awesome no problems. You have a lot to learn. Just get one! Stop peddling the nonsense that SSDs are all about boot times. As far as I'm concerned that isn't important, but yes boot times are massively increased. My SSD is the single best performance upgrade I have ever done on any machine. Obviously if you're a gamer a gfx card would be more important.

Very tempting but going to hang on until Samsung's cash back offer starts in a week and pick up a 256GB instead. £/GB should work out similar to this then.

£8.00 delivery for Northern Ireland- I thought ebuyer had scrapped all that!

So if I'm running on SATA2 would I notice any difference between this and say Crucial/Samsung/Intel? Being that it wouldn't be able to reach top speed anyway...?

Also what is the reliability said to be like on these? I've yet to jump on the SSD bandwagon but have been looking to sometime soon...

Does anybody know if this will work with XP?

I was going to type a lengthy explanation to how you completely missed the point of my post but then I realised I couldn't be bothered wasting my time... :p
