i'd hold off a bit.

the boss of Kingston said recently that he reckoned that SSD's would drop to <$1 a gig by early next year.
a mere couple months from now you might be picking this up for an even hundred or less ;)

I was going to hold off anyway, simply because I want performance. I was going to go OptiBay and put an SSD and HDD into the MacBook for space and speed. Presonally, if I were to buy, I'd go for a smaller sandforce one, or wait a few months for the new gen (which I have to do anyway, funds are tight).

You could be waiting forever if you want best bang/buck as they'll always drop in price. $1/gig won't happen on performance SSDs for at least a year, you'll be getting second class SSDs for that price and lucky if they are even close to 200mb/s read and half that for write.
