nah these are good for netbooksin 2x 1gb config whereas 3gb ram is not necessary for a low powered netbook.
Also £14.99 crucial ex delivery at ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158632

anyone know if this would fit an Aspire One 9" netbook please ?

that seems to be a yes (it's over spec but shouldn't matter) but it's surprisingly difficult
e.g. http://www.aspireoneuser.com/2008/08/29/how-to-add-ram-to-the-acer-aspire-one-netbook/

this would probably be just as good for this netbook and £2 less

interesting how prices are no lower than 2 years ago.

edit2: one more update.
you can get a 512MB SODIMM for about £4 on a well known auction site, making this not that great a deal if you're happy with 1GB total on the AA1

My laptop takes 1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300. Will I be able install this sodimm instead? AFAIK it's the same but faster (800 MHz vs 667 MHz), right?

TIA

I'm not a techie, but need some ram for an Advent 7088
200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2700 333MHz
It takes 2 x 1Gb.
Can anyone suggest a cheap option that i could use, or is nothing mentioned here compatible.
Cheapest i can find is £27 - £30. Guess coz it's old stuff now.
Thanks in Advance

Me too.
We have an old Ei Systems laptop that not worth throwing away because it's still good for net browsing and basic stuff but a bit more RAM will speed it up.

200 Pin SO DIMM DDR2700 333MHz - amazon or scan sell it for £30-£35 per 1Gb

I know it is very expensive but that's the way it is for old ram....

Yes I put 800mhz in mine but it will only run at 667mhz.

To those enquiring about compatibility, click through to the Kingston website for that memory;
Here
then click on the "To see a complete list of devices that use this memory" button.
Looks like only HP/Compaq laptops

Those asking about compatibility generally then why not use the crucial memory advisor on their web site:-

http://www.crucial.com/uk/?click=true

Like I always say in these threads it'd better be much cheaper than the equivalent Crucial ( or Kingston) to be worth risking, particularly on a netbook like the AAO where memory upgrades are a major PITA.

Just bought a new laptop recently (the Lenovo G555 that was on here as an Argos clearance funnily enough) and looking to upgrade to 4GB. I noticed this 1GB on Play and having read the comments, saw that it not so long ago you could get 2GB for the price...turns out that as DDR2 has reduced/stopped production all the prices have shot up as a result. Smegtastic...

On a slightly different note, for awareness DDR2 has about 4 different bus rates (800 / 667 / 533, etc) - my understanding is that if you buy a higher spec than one you already have in your PC it will run at the lower speed.
ie If you have DDR2 533 and then buy a new DDR2-800 unit, it will run at the lowest speed - in this case 533Mhz. Just means you do have more flexibility if you are looking to upgrade a slightly older machine ;)

saw it, but thought if I'm gonna fork it, better be for higher spec....jumped onto a kingston 2gb CL5, was £3 cheaper than play's own.

mumbojumbo
