Can't go wrong with Kingston RAM....voted hot:)

Absolute bargain at this price. Wish I'd not bought some a couple of weeks ago for a little more!

Thanks muckypup and seancampbell :)
#4
brilliant find, you can pay that price for a single 1gb stick
#5
Great price & good investment if you're using Windows Vista with 1GB or less RAM!
#6
To be fair a single 1 gig stick at £72 is likely to be at least 800mhz if not more and have better timings too. Only the ultra low latency ram hits that price (though the top end corsair stuff goes for double that!)

Will this fit the Dell 22" deal about a month ago?

Should do - which dell model? e520? the screen size isn't much of a giveaway :giggle:

Sorry i know that :p

It's the E520
#12
E520 should be fine - this is only generic DDR2 - I expect you have 4 slots - how many are full? Best to install in matched pairs. This is 667 mhz RAM so somewhat faster than the RAM dell usually use (but it will run at slow speed as the current RAM - 533 mhz).

£72.84 at crucial ...more cashback/discount options?

Crucial also have a free 2 gig SD card (and better codes/ quidco). Is it exactly the same spec?

Just had a look at the link http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=D5041855A5CA7304

shows 533 mhz RAM for £71.66 inc VAT with free 3-5 day shipping, 7% quidco, but no SD card promotion anymore?
#16
Only had a quick look but it seems exactly the same.

Seems pretty reasonable. Can't seem to find any better. £32.80 a gig is incredible.

How do you get a free 2gb sd card?
#21
It was a promotion crucial were running but as per post 16 it seems to be finished now.
#22
Thanks for this Cat :) Nice find!

I bought a pair of these sticks a few months ago, when they were £90. I just bought some more, to give me a 4gig setup:-D

BTW the first pair were not compatible with my factory fitted pair of 512's in my Acer T180 3800+ dual core amd for some reason? They were all the same speed and voltage. I never got to the bottom of that:?

Great price... Looking for this as need to upgrade to Vista...

Lets try Vista now...
#26
4gb worth of RAM coming my way.

Looks like the Dell supplied stuff will be on eBay sooner than expected :-D
#27
To get rthe benefit of 4GB, you need to be running Vista. 4GB will slow down XP - the most you want with that OS is 3GB.

More info :-

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found at http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.asp?qid=4251.

As others have said, this is money wasted unless you're running Vista, multiple virtual machines or a database server on a 64-bit install :)
