I have a IBM Lenovo C100 Laptop can anyone tell me if this would fit in that?
http://www.trustedreviews.com/notebooks/review/2006/05/02/Lenovo-3000-C100/p1

Kingston KVR667D2S5/1G Valueram Computer Memory 1GB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz 200 Pin SO Dimm

I think the lenovo has PC4200 memory as standard does it matter if you put PC5300 memory in or would I be better with this?

Kingston KVR533D2S4/1G Valueram Computer Memory 1GB PC4200 DDR2 533Mhz 200 Pin SODIMM

Thanks

Looks great! Are these as easy as just swapping out the old one? or do you have to upgrade motherboard etc.?:?

Does anyone know the best place to buy 2GB macbook pro ram? I've noticed it for £32 from play. Is this good?
#7
Excellent. It's not going to get much cheaper than this, so I've bought 2. Thanks for the find.

The Crucial Memory configuration at
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=3000%20C100%20Series%20%28All%20Types%29
says the Lenovo 3000 C100 has "2 slots, Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-4200,DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*

However with the offer here the stated 5300 has clock latency 5 whereas the 4200 has only latency 4 which is preferable so should be best to take the 4200 (although in reality it is possibly the same as memory at 4200 with 4 is probably 5300 with 5)

Darn it. Wish there was some PC3200 at those prices, DDR1 is getting more expensive by the day!

I'm in the same boat... If I were a spiteful person I'd vote this cold just because DDR1 is ridiculously expensive. I was looking at some OCZ from dabs. FIFTY THREE QUID FOR 2 GIG!!!

Sorry for the caps but I'm peed off!:whistling:

Get's a hot vote from me but not without a tear in my eye!

I'm in the same boat....I ended up pricing up a motherboard, processor and RAM at Ebuyer. £123 for a low end core 2 duo with 2 gigs DDR2...should see a big improvement over my athlon 3000 skt 939....just bought an ATI HD 3650 so should be able to play my HD video nicely now!

Don't do PC gaming anymore so this will be more than powerful enough for me at the moment.

I have a laptop that's using this RAM right now:

Kingston ValueRAM - Memory - 1 GB - SO DIMM 200-pin - DDR - 400 MHz / PC3200 - CL3 - 2.6 V - unbuffered

can I purchase any of the ones on offer at play.com???
or is it not possible because DDR and DDR2 won't be compatible?

Either ask this in Deal requests or Misc forum where someone will answer :)

A fellow 939'er, we can all mourn the death of our wallets together!

on a side note, added heat since a mate needs some DDR2, thanks OP.

Edit: nxtyear, the short answer. DDR and DDR2 arn't compatible

Annoying! I bought 2 of these last night... although its only £1.20 off every penny counts!

Incompatible, although the same size and pin configuration, the actual notch cut out is in a slightly different place on DDR 2 to DDR SO DIMM's which is a good thing actually because the voltage is different so if you did manage to force one in the slot chances are you would damage a voltage rail.

My advice, do what I did on saturday, I bought for my older laptop some PNY PC3200 from PCWorld with their price beat policy, 24.99 at PCWorld for 512mb, 14.99 at play.com......did their 110% price beat so had two sticks 1gb of ram in total for 27.99 which is a good price for over inflated ddr ram prices.

DDR 266mhz is PC2100 spec ram, as PC2700 (333mhz) is backward compatible then that can be used in your laptop/desktop...SO DIMM 200 pin being laptop and DIMM 184 pin being desktop.

This stuff works great in my Dell Dimension E521. Well worth upgrading if you have only got the standard 1GB onboard.

Is this the sort of thing? It seems like it would fit my Dell, and £18 for 1gb seems fairly good.

Good upgrade for office machine and average home users.

But £45.60 for 4Gb I'd rather add extra £10 and get an OCZ 4Gb PC6400 kit.
