I've an old Dell Dimension 1100.

Does anyone know how I find out if the RAM would be compatible?

Cheers
#2
more then likely not, it's DDR3 tbh.
#3
DDR3 isn't backwards compatible with DDR1 or 2 as they use different voltages.
#4
Nice, I want 4gb sticks though in triple channel, 12gb 8)

Glad to see RAM has been falling in price lately but unfortunately I paid around 63 quid for my corsair dominators about 2 months ago :(! Havnt even used it yet :(!
Btw, I think this kit is the newer hyperx blu. It is meant to be able to reach 1600 CL7 according to some reviews :O!

The only place to get memory is Crucial. Good prices, excellent service.
Plus, if you're not sure what flavour of memory to buy, they have this very handy scanner which will make everything clear :)

More importantly DDR3 and DDR2 module types are keyed differently, so they are physically not interchangeable.

See the following link for more information :

Nice Avatar btw, I thought he was the best thing about the Peep Show premiere episode.

You forgot Kingston and Orcalogic. I do agree that Crucial is a good place to buy ram from though :)

You're right regards Kingston & Orcalogic. I've just had such good service / prices from Crucial that I've very rarely had the need to go elsewhere

Depends what you need. I needed some ram for an old Toshiba laptop and Orca was the cheapest.

Pricing is ok but Eclipse are awful for customer service and even worse on returns with the excuse "well our policy is......." blaming the customer and saying they danaged the item. just hope if you buy you dont get any problems.

Ditto for eclipse customer service unless things have changed over the years. Would have to be a massive bargain to make me go there (I'm local)

Funnily enough, I've just installed 3 x 2GB DDR3 1333 bought from Orca Logic. Third time I've bought from them, always been happy, couldn't find it any cheaper when ordered.
