Does anyone know if this goes into a Compaq Mini 311c?
#3
how come this is cold? Does anyone know if this will this fit in a samsung n220? ta

No idea why it's not hotter, if my aging Mac would support this much per stick I'd have ordered by now.

It's cold as it's only just been put up, expect it to rise a fair bit if Play actually have any.

Beginning to lose faith given their portable hard drive vanishing act.

It was in the negatives briefly though.

I've managed to bag one of the really cheap deals (internal SSD) but have 3 others awaiting stock. It seems like they have some stock of all these great deals but you have to be very quick/lucky.

Anyone know if it'll be okay to buy one and install it alongside the 2GB of RAM I currently have in my laptop (Vostro 1500)?

Or should I just buy two and sell the one which came with the laptop?

Cheers,
Scar

If the existing module is also PC2-5300 it will probably make very little difference, although apparently the configuration of the chips (number on each side, whether they're on both sides...) might matter too.

It looks like it could possibly be the faster PC2-6400 though, in which case I would start from scratch rather than mixing them.

Bear in mind 32-bit versions of Windows will only 'see' about 3GB if you install 4GB.

don't see why it wouldn't work, but i read somewhere if you get a matched pair they work better.

if you do se'll i will give you £15 for yours.

Thank you to both BurningSnowman and Sagor for providing an answer to my query - unfortunately I found out that my laptop has 2x 1gb memory sticks installed rather than a single 2GB stick.

With that said I would have to buy two and then consider installing a 64-bit OS to fully utilise the full 4GB of RAM.

I shall assume that you are not interesting in buying 2GB of laptop RAM in the form of 2x 1GB sticks Sagor. :p

Thanks again,
Scar

#16
Does anyone know how you can check if this is compatible with their laptop?

Try Crucial. Supported speed/max capacity for most computers there.

Only works in netbooks? The play.com description says it only works in about 10 different models, I'm really confused! Surely it works in any laptop that can take ddr2 sodimm pc2-5300 667mhz ram

Listed at 42.99 ?

Why? - Is it quicker and would it make much of a difference?
#22
Showing as £42.99 now. I was too slow :(

Says £42.99 now..........

They changed from 23.49 to £42.99 each while I was checking out, it blinked and updated when I tried to pay! How dodgy!
#26
Its annoying how much RAM has increased in value over the past couple of years. I bought 2GB sodimm for £17 on '08, then another 2GB in '09 for £21, and its continued to creep up since.

Arrived today, fitted very easily once I opened the correct flap on Acer netbook, doh.

Bios picked it up without fuss and straight into windows. Cheer to AK1
