When this is connected to my phone can the SD card reader also be used by the phone? i.e. can i transfer files to and from the reader with my phone or is just purely for when it's connected to a PC?

Should work with the phone as well providing you have an USB OTG cable.
Note you cannot charge and use the MicroSD reader at the same time as they used different connectors.

This really shouldn't be surprising to anyone, theyll either be sold on a market stall or a shop for 2 or 3 times the price or maybe stuck straight back on ebay, stands to reason alot of people keep an eye on HotUKDeals to buy things low and sell them at *gulp* full price, to all the noobs that have never heard of HotUKDeals or won't buy anything they can't see or feel in person.

Just wonder how to physically identify the USB OTG bu just cable looking into the physical appearance of the cable ??

Is USB Host a default for micro USB port and already have default driver on mobile Operating systems ??

The question is, if this has no charge will you still be able to access the microSD from the phone? I'm hoping so.

Yes, I'm sure you can as that's how you charge it.

There's also this unit if this one sells out (it's not OOS yet):

This is a typical Micro USB OTG cable which is what you would need is you wanted to use the MicroSD reader with your mobile. This would allow you to connect the USB cable from the MicroSD reader (MicroUSB input port) to the MicroUSB port of your Android phone. Mobile on the last Android OS should support it straighaway. But if not you would just simply have to install a free app.

I cannot see any reason as to why not.

I am thinking the same. But you never know. Guess i'll find out soon enough, as I've purchased it. Worth a punt.
Cheers OP.

1A output, so really slow charging on many phones.

Thanks OP this looks like quite a nice powerbank for the money. I am hoping the integrated MicroUSB cable support OTG but even if it doesn't it peanuts for what looks like quite a decent bit of kit.
