Searing hot! Haven't seen a cast iron griddle for this cheap before!

Did you read the Amazon customer reviews? Apparently, the pan rusts within days, smokes a lot (not sure exactly why), and develops cracks. Might want to pick a different brand.

If you read it properly, one person says it came WITH a crack, so one was faulty.

Of course it rusts its IRON!

You need to season iron pans of all sorts by heating coated with oil, and at least re-oil after washing for a while until the surface is well coated with carbonised oil!

£7.99 is a decent price. If anyone wants cheaper, there is a plain cast iron pan for £6.99 instore at IKEA, http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20114265 I often prefer a pan without ridges for some food.

Most of those reviews are the result of the pan not being seasoned properly, or complaints about it's weight! I'd say the only legitimate problem with it so far from the reviews is that it can smoke up.

but they do... the whole idea is you get them very hot... so they smoke if there is oil about. You minimise it by oiling the food, NOT the pan, but they naturally enough stll smoke a bit
