Good price! Just picked up the glass bowl for £55 on same site.
Wouldn't have looked until you directed me there!

I'm no expert but there are other mixers which can be found for £100, don't they suffice?

Yes, but it depends on how you view it really. You can definitely get a stand mixer for a lot less, but if you are someone that is in to baking for example (or needs it for light commercial use), will use it frequently, and wants something that has excellent build quality, reliability and longevity then you might choose to invest in one of these. It's like tools really, the dedicated DIY enthusiast or professional values quality trusted tools and doesn't mind investing in more for a good reliable brand than the person that wants a cheap set to do the occasional job once or twice a year. It's just like that with this really, only you can decide how much you value getting something that is recognised as a classic piece of equipment that will give you quality and reliability for decades.

Do you need a stand mixer? No, probably not, but it sure takes the grunt work out of stirring and kneading. It also mixes more consistently than I could by hand and classes up the counter. Thanks OP for find a great deals.

Apparently, you can paint them, if you're feeling crafty

I presume i'm wrong in thinking 300w is too weedy for bread? Used an old mixer recently and the thing almost set on fire, does more power not necessarily mean more performance?!

love this colour, i bought this one from debenhams for £240 when there were glitchy multiple codes working

They should be. I looked at getting one years ago and concluded they were like SMEG, cashing in on the retro look with pretty but average machines. I found the basic Artisan model very noisy and I do not think there is any reason to say they are more reliable or have excellent build quality. They look good but in a mixer it is the internals that matter and in reality this is a £160 machine. The same basic model in this colour is $309 on Amazon.com and the black is $199. Looks like we pay about £100 for a nice colour. Having said that this is a good price for rip off Britain so not voted.
