Was £5.56 buy one get one free, cheaper than homebase at that price now down to £5 buy one get one free. This stuff is 200 mm thick and has the foil backing to reflect the heat back into the house. Perfect for adding that extra layer of insulation with the cold snap on the way.

Comparison:

4 rolls @ Homebase = £11.48

4 rolls @ B&Q = £10

Haha, it kinda does from that picture. Believe me, you wouldn't want to ingest this stuff...

I guess it shows how important pictures are... I don't tend to do much reading as I'm scrolling down the page.

Now I realise I've been drooling over a space blanket... does that make me a rug muncher? =p

May take advantage of this - thanks!

I saw the picture & thought it was a special offer on fish too :-)

only 1.48msq you could phone build center and buy a roll of rockwool 100mm 5.76msq and a roll of rockwool 170mm 3.8msq for £2 delivered
rockwool is itchy but for the eco nutters out there the spaceblanket is 50% recycled wheras the rockwool is 100% eco friendly made from volcanic rock
rockwool also has better fire and sound retarding properties and i think a little better insulation too

This stuff is fully encapsulated and therefore "itch free" providing you don't have to do much cutting, much more diy friendly. Plus its got aluminium foil backing at £2.50 a roll, its good deal. I paid the higher price couple of weeks ago. Definitely makes a noticeable difference to warmth.

Only stuff to use its got better insulative properties due to the foil plus its much easier to work with as already mentioned, less mess etc.

yeah easy to use and much more expensive and not as efficient think id rather itch and the rockwool is delivered free however much you order no need to find a b&q
£3 = over 6sqm of rockwool at 270mm
£7.50 = 6sqm of space blanket at 200mm

current regs are for 270mm depth

not quite correct both have an 0.044 W/mK value so
space blanket 200mm = R value 4.5
rockwool 270mm = R value 6

although i do agree spaceblanket or normal crownwool loft roll 44 is much more user friendly
celotex is better than both but dearer

Most people buying this will be topping up existing insulation so don't really care about building regulations and will therefore most likely have 100 mm+ already in place. Also, while some people might like to itch, I for one don't. Therefore for diy novices like me this is the perfect solution at the best price I've seen it :)

I bought it from Homebase already but have yet to finish clearing all the garbage out of my loft to put it in place! I am topping up existing insulation & a total novice so for me this is by far the best option!

That's what I came in to say... doesn't look as tasty close up!

I believe the foil is a moisture barrier more than anything to do with insulation/radiation if you are putting (usually) the insulation at the bottom of the loft, directly contacting the timber surface

Why not just encapsulate the whole thing in plastic then? Instead of just half. The foil's primary purpose is to reflect heat - see:
