Asda are selling 2 packs of knorr stock cubes for £1

They had this deal on a while ago and put them back up to full price. I saw they're back on the 2 for £1 offer and stocked up with it being soup making season.

Flavours included are: chicken, ham, beef, lamb, fish and veg

It's the same in my local store the chicken is always the first to sell out. Although they had plenty when I was in.

It's cheaper to buy a bag of MSG (E621).

Usually use the cheapie ASDA own brand, but noticed that they include hydrogenated fat which is not good. Wonder if these are hydrogenated fat free?

MSG (or flavour enhancer E621) is the main ingrediant in Knorr stock cubes (after the hydrogenated fat). You can buy MSG in any chinese or asian supermarket in bags of 1kg for about £2. Some say that MSG is not good for you and leads to the ' chinese syndrom'.

(Quote: Chinese syndrome is a collection of symptoms that some people experience after eating Chinese food. A food additive called monosodium glutamate (MSG) has been implicated, but it has not been proved to be the substance that causes this condition.).

BTW, most stock cubes and gravy powders contain MSG. The exeptions are: Kallo and Kallo organic stock cubes and the original Bisto powder (Bisto granules contain MSG).

They never have the chicken ones in the ASDA where I shop any day of the week. Let alone when they are on offer! You would've thought ASDA would work out it means they should order more?!

Thanks for posting this. I'll be off to ASDA as soon as.

I spend about £1.64 on these stock cubes a day. I use them in my sandwiches for work .
They may contain MSG but the chicken ones are very high in protein which is essential
for a good diet.:

Yum!
