I`m 110 years old. Can I still go?

depends if you still like looking at little monkeys
surely this will eventually become the normal price as the offer seems to be on allll the time now!

We thought we were safe as we have an internal aerial. And smugly watched the car infront getting taken apart by the monkeys. What we didn't realise was that they were under the car removing all the parking sensors, the buds for the windscreen washers, and various wires under the car that we didn't even know were there.

I have seen them take apart windscreen wipers, number plates as well. taping the windscreen wipers were of no use as my friend found out. the monkeys still managed to take out their windscreen wipers and washer buds that were taped

Went on Thursday, place was packed but still had a good day, tip take own food and drink long queues, at all food outlets.
We had a season ticket a couple of years ago and even though it's an hour away we still found it to be good value. I've no time off work next week so sadly won't be able to use this deal.
Shame half term was LAST week.

No dolphins when I went last year. I think the have a sea lion show though. Can definitely recommend, though I had to replace windscreen wipers after!

Yes, I can confirm its a sea lion show. I literally live 2 minutes from the park and have a season ticket. My kids love the place and we go quite regularly
a bit far for me, might consider to stay for a night, thanks

You can simply drive around the monkey enclosure & watch idiots have their cars destroyed. It's well signed so easy to avoid.

There's also a bus you can take through the monkey enclosure but when we went it was a bit pricey.

This is a good deal, as a family of five it normally costs us a fair bit, we'll be going soon. Have some heat!

Isn't this where the monkeys are known to pull the wipers off your windscreen and nick your hubcaps?

i have not bee but we were thinkingnof goung a few montha ago.I think there is an option to avoid the monkey area if you like your car!

Can't possibly go to Knowsley without going in the monkeys. Got an annual pass and go thru the monkeys every time. All adds to the fun of the safari.

Yep..nowt more fun than a £400 garage bill every time you see the lovely monkeys.
I recommend, having found it on HuKD, a tenner? you cant go wrong.

Although it was a 2hr30min drive, the kids absolutely loved it.

the monkeys are the best bit.

Why anybody would want to get their car destroyed by those little monkeys is beyond me - especially when you have to pay for it X)
Absolutely true, do not, repeat, do not drive through the monkey enclosure. Theres an alternate route where you can park up and watch everyone elses car being dismantled, piece by piece!!

I've read a lot ov reviews about the monkey bit lol was gonna go in summer for £27 and read reviews and although it would be nice for kids etc not so nice for car went to zoo instead lol gr8 price tho so heated op ;)

Thanks OP! we went today and had a great few hours.
We got well and truly ambushed by the Monkeys though when we were forced to stop because they stood in front of the car and wouldn't move, within seconds they were all over the car.
Now I understand what the 'car friendly' alternative route was for.

do you need to keep seatbelts on? got a 2 and 4 year old that may miss all the animals if tgey need to stay in their seats ..... crappy astra rear windows

No seatbelts required as it's private land but make sure you keep the roof up if you have a convertible....:)

Well thanks to the OP for posting this deal, I went today only because I saw the deal posted yesterday. Perfect timing as I've got a few days off work with my 3 year old and already had tomorrow sorted but not today, he absolutely loved it. thanks! (oh and yes the monkeys did bend a bit of trim on my car and I saw two cars with missing number plates and the car in front of me had its rear window wiper ripped off, last year when I went they were very tame, not this time however!)

Years ago my LO would sit the front and sometimes on my lap whilst I was doing 5 miles an hour. Please god don't let the police be reading this.
I think it's classed as private land so seat belts are not mandatory. Someone correct me if I wrong.
I think your right, I went today and everyone else was doing the same. I had my lad in the front seat which normally he isn't old enough for even with his chair, but I put it in the front still used the seatbelt and was fine, but I would never use his seat in the front on a normal road. As you say its a private road.

Ah 10 pounds to see tortured animals quite a deal. The reasons for zoos and places like this is entertainment. If anyone attempts to chime in with conservation shout them down. These animals are unfortunately profit accumulators and will be until the last zoo is closed. Help doesn't start at home in this case, it starts abroad thats where money to help the endangered among them needs to go not in the bank account of a profiteering company.
It is very sad indeed.
Animals make millions of bucks for people and the least you could do is care for them properly.
A very good example being racehorses. When they're old and can't win anymore, they end up in burgers and kebabs.:(
A bit like Care Homes then....but at least you don't end up in a burger.....yawn.

I bet they don't do it for father's day
I'd rather be a father and not receive any benefits than be a mother who has to endure 9 months of labour and then the pain of child birth, not to mention the physical and emotional changes. I'm a father myself and I'm not bothered about father's day as it's another commercial money spinner, but women provide the gateway to bringing life into the world so I'm happy to celebrate Mother's Day. Yes, some people would say it's a commercial spinner too but you don't have to go mad just to show a little appreciation to mums. The ironic thing about Mother's Day though is the woman that 'invented' it spent her whole life trying to prevent Mother's Day from becoming so commercial and subsequently died in poverty.

Women are not gateway of childbirth they are a side product. No matter if they want it or not children will be born.
do they do a mother in law day, ( drop her off at the lion enclosure, im sure she will love it) lol

I was quite lucky by the sound of it, only spent 25 minutes in the queue, it extended to just past the slip road to the entrance. Thankfully they said I could return within 28 days to have the passes made :)

Yeah, we had waited long enough in the queue to get in, we thought we would go back in a couple of weeks to get the tickets. The lines at the blue and pink huts didn't seem to get any shorter when we were there.

Never mind jokey bits, just sell the unclaimed bits to car owners who come back from battle wounded! It would be cheaper than buying new ones lol

Its strange how some cars are targeted and others are left alone.
2 guys in a silver Fiesta started squirting water at them and turning the wipers on. Well once they did that they became a beacon of sorts, then a few serious bits of body trim started flying off. Shouldn't have laughed really, we didn't exactly come out unscathed, one whole wiper blade and 'holder' gone, another wiper blade with a big part of it bitten off, and a thoroughly chewed rubber bee sting aerial. Oh and various smearings of a dubious origin.

I think next time we will go the car friendly route and just record the other cars getting tortured!! lol

Good fun!

Lots of people trying to feed the camel and emus though, Can't they read?! I'm surprised they don't get people getting out of the car to pet the lions!

Edited By: Rhoobarb on Aug 25, 2013 18:13: poor explanation on my part
I've asked that question before, and they DO keep "monkey salvage" for (IIRC) a fortnight, just in case someone asks them for it back.

I'd actually suggested a new line of jokey products for the shop made from the scrap, which is when they said they had to keep hold of it for a period first.
Well, the queue went back to the main roundabout and beyond! Took nearly an hour to get in lol. A few horns beeping as people tried to cut in.

Bought the year pass, fully worth it.

Anyone know if they collect the car bits? :(

Remember to think carefully before entering the monkey enclosure, you can drive around if you're sensible. Last time I went the little bugg*rs were running around with wing mirrors and ariels. One even had the cover off a 4x4's spare wheel! I remember when I was a kid watching the monkeys stripping a canvas roof cover of some poor blokes car.

Remember it well, absolutely hilarious tried to get our mirrors off but had to make do with the rear windscreen wipers instead. Kids loved itX)
Went last year, even though it was a 280 mile round trip it was well worth it!
Hot
Cold, not in South East of England.
I would rather go to the Olympics ;)
we go here about twice a month, the annual tickets were only half price so 20 for adult and 15 for children. Great place, all love it. If you dont live very close and just want to visit once then this price is great, if not then wait a few months for annual tickets to go half price again
Took my 8y/o daughter there last school hols, had half price vouchers in the local paper. She loved it but be patient the first drive round, it's gridlock! Have a drive round again in the afternoon & it's usually much quieter. Good day out & decent price too, have some heat

Having seen those pictures we wont be going.Surely preventative population/birth control is kinder than shooting animals.Am utterly appalled.Do all zoos do this?

I wouldn't fancy putting a condom on a lion TBH

As for the 'hate' Mail article I am somewhat sceptical. I think the animals on view look in good health and relatively happy. At least the prize species aren't being poached by trophy hunters as in the wild. If the numbers aren't controlled then you would moan that the enclosures were too small and so on and so on......these places don't have a bottomless pit of money like our government

Just been today and topped up my pass from october ....thanks OP
a google search has revealed this is the practice in many zoos...am appalled.Shame they don't take same approach to people instead

Must be true if the Daily Mail say it (sarcastic). Sounds like a disgruntled ex employee to me. Would have thought there would have been a barrage of staff leaking stories if the culling was true.

OMG, you must both lead a very boring life. :w00t:

IT'S FREE FOR DADS. I hate poor grammar and spelling but this punctuation did not alter the message in any way. Still a free offer for Dads, which is unusual.
