Bought a Kobo Touch when the same deal appeared here a few weeks ago. Nice ereader, it can handle both mobi and epub formats, amongst others and even includes a few 'extras' like a sodoku game with selectable difficulty levels. Delivered in superfast time, the original box had obviously been opened before but the contents were in A1 mint condition. Recommended.

Tier 1 are awful refurb products from experience of selling a huge number of PC's "refurbed" by them - id stay clear. May be a fairly long turnaround time for repair also as they are not a UK based company

I am very tempted but am a bit new to the e-readers, are these just as easy to download books as the kindle (from Amazon i presume) I have an Android tablet and wondered if I am able to just use that instead of buying another gadget? x

Reading on a tablet isn't the nicest of experiences.
Readers like this are far superior due to the e Ink displays used which will reduce eye strain compared to tablet. Also readable in direct sun unlike most tablets.

Another downside of tablets is the display is the biggest user of battery, so not ideal for reading unless it's just the odd chapter or two.

Thank you very much for your help, I wondered if my battery would cope, is it easy to download to the kobo one? x

You can buy books (download free ones too) from the Kobo Store on the device.

Or you can use Calibre to manage it (it's kinda like iTunes but for books).

Here's a tutorial showing you a myriad of options (including Calibre)

sja - go to the Play store on your tablet - there are hundreds of free books.

I think this eink is quite a lot of hype - I have no probs reading books with my tablet (it's HD, less resolution will be worse). The only advantage of ereaders compared to hd tablets is battery life - hours for a tablet, weeks for an ereader (I've got an iriver, and just ordered the Touch, i think the basic Kobo is now OOS). Downloading books from ereaders by default come from one retailer (there are ways around that though) which I find limiting compared to all suppliers being available on tablets (just load the kindle/kobo etc app, or better still, get from the Play store.). If you need long battery life, go with an ereader, if you can manage with a several hour battery life, save some cash and use your tablet (if you find the resolution good enough). My ereader is lighter than my tablet, and has less reflections. Otoh, a tablet does thousands of different things, and an ereader just one.

I think the checkout screen isn't available due to the £39 one being out of stock. I got through ok to order the Touch at £55 - alhough thinking about it, for a refub that isn't such a great price. If the iriver is still available at £35ish as posted on a different thread, I'd go with that (got one, really good).
