Having linked to an earlier post indicating a 30% sale in the shop from 11/02/07, I was amazed to see that the deal had come about a few hours earlier, and this camera (which I've had my eye on for a bit) is now reduced to £160.99 with an additional 5% via Quidco.
It was originally £380 and then reduced to £229.99 before this offer took affect! Couldn't find it cheaper elsewhere. Froogle shows a price range for this product between £190-£366.

Specs are pretty good too - but can't seem to copy and paste them without overloading my laptop - sorry.

In addition, apologies, I couldn't get it to link to the photo. They are still in stock at the moment, and in my opinion, well worth the money.

Good luck everyone.

Managed to load specs finally!

Thanks for the post oB765o. I've sorted out the image. I've updated the price to excluse the quidco amount - we usually don't include it in the price shown, as everyone does not use it, but we usually mention it as you have done.

Thanks!!! Nice looking deal :)

This is a fantastic camera for a good price. The lens on it is awesome going from 24-140mm in 35mm equiv. That 24mm on the wide end is really useful for landscapes and because its a v good quality lens has very low barrel distortion.

We sometimes have generic sale threads on HUKD necrodeathhead, such as your post. But if there is a particularly good deal, it is useful to have it in a post of it's own, as it may get a bigger audience, and people may find it easier to see the deal, rather than lost inside a thread somewhere.

It's not really pinching, it's sharing information...
#7
The thread I have left shows every sale item!
#8
That's okay necrodeathhead, take it as a compliment that someone wanted to highlight your find by giving it a post of its own :)
#9
Thanks for the post and info guys :)

necrodeath - apologies, i certainly didn't wish to cause offence, hence my original reference to seeing the item after following a link to your earlier posting for 30% kodak sale and before you had added the link to the deals on offer. i was just thrilled with the deal on this camera and certainly wasn't in it to steal any credit that you rightly deserved for highlighting that kodak were having a one day sale in the first place.

Thanks! i'm obviously no way near a pro. Couldn't figure out what is the optical zoom like. :whistling:

Sorry I should have expanded on my reply :) 6x optical is pretty good coupled with the 8mp resolution.

Thanks for the info guys buy the way :)

I have this camera and you will definately need to buy a 2gb memory card for it.
Also a telescopic lens, depending what you are going to use it for.Kodak only have a 1.4x lens but if you go on e-bay,you will find sellers in USA and Japan that do a 2.2x lens and 3x lens and at half the price at what Kodak is selling a 1.4x lens for.

I am the proud owner of one these babies. This is a great camera. :)

Is the lens interchangeable then on this? Sounds like a great starter SLR....

This camera is rated a'best buy' in the Which? mag with the comment 'Picture quality is the real strength of the Best Buy 8Mp Kodak Easyshare P880. In automatic mode is scored higher than the vast majority of other cameras on test. It also has quite a few features, and an interesting lens'.
Which? also said the camera produces a 'Very good image quality'. Thats something that its says about very few digital cameras whatever their price. Looks like a very good deal if you want something more than a point and shoot compact. Price was £241 when which? tested.
#24
just taken a quick look online and the item is now showing as 'sorry! sold out'. hope that a few of us managed to take advantage of this deal. there still seem to be a few other cameras on offer including the easyshare z740, though i'm not sure how this rates. please follow the link in http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48439 for further details. good luck.

You have to buy an adapter so that other lenses can be fitted. The USA sellers usually give you the adapter for free. But if not they only cost a few pounds.

Nope its not a dslr. However the fixed lens on this is of extremely high quality. (Tele extenders can be added as others have mentioned, these will slightly degrade quality but get you a longer optical zoom reach). The kit lenses that come with dslrs will not be of as high equivalent optical quality as this lens. Please see this thread for examples etc: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1011&thread=21989056

My mate has one and im seriously considering one myself particularly for the 24mm on the wide end.

Thanks all, I bit the bullet at 7.45 when they were still in stock so hopefully I've been lucky! :)

Am I missing something? It seems to be £199 now.

Before digital was here, 3x, 6x zoom etc didn't exist. It was 20mm - 120mm etc....

Didn't people use cameras back then????

I cannot believe it. Kodak have made the unilateral decision to cancel my order for the above camera. I feel absolutely disgusted on the basis that this was supposedly in their one day sale and sold out in no time at all, only to be back on offer and in stock at £229.00 the following day. feeling totally disgruntled with the whole bargain spotting thing. really fed up and can't get through to them as their lines closed at 5pm.
#34
Considering you were the OP I take it that everyone else will have there orders cancelled aswell...

Can anyone confirm if they managed to get this camera at the stated price...
#35
well done to those who managed to grab this camera. I work in a photography store, Kodak infact and theser cameras are among the best we've ever stocked. The pictures are absoluely amazing especially when printed on Kodak Royal. You can really see some outstanding colours. Dissapointed I missed this one :(
#36
not sure what's going on to be honest. i have a feeling that they are going to write back and tell me that the order wasn't valid because their sale hadn't officially started or something like that. or that they've run out of stock - or that it was a misprice (can you tell that i've been here before with other retailers recently?!!!). will update as soon as i've managed to speak with someone. at the moment, when logging in to check on the status of the order, it simply says cancelled (although they do say in their t&c's that you will be contacted by e-mail in the case that an order cannot be processed). sorry-, was in a bad mood when i posted that last e-mail, hence ranting at bargain spotting in general...!
#37
Just had confirmation and mine has (supposedly) gone through, bad luck oB765o.

oB765o, listen to my story, you will feel better,
I'm watching P880 for a while, finally I placed an order on last monday @£229, having lost patience. Shortly I got an email confirmation saying the order has been accepted. 10 min later, another email popped out, told me the order has been cancelled, as the credit card payment was not approved. and suggetted me 'to place a new order with a different card'. I called my bank immediately and was told the transaction has been approved and is waiting Kodak to take the money!I contacted Kodak, they just replied me that they didn't and won't take the money. However, until today, 7 days passed, £229 is still missing in my credit account!
As I was so eager to upgrade my camera, I placed another order on last Thursday (08/02), using my another credit card. Got the confirmation, no more following up. So I was happily waiting for the delivery.
Sunday morning, I was shocked to see the price dropping, felt so frustrated. But I didn't place another order, just planned to bargain with Kodak on Monday, since I haven't got the 'over priced' item. However, Sunday afternoon, when the P880 was out of stock, I logged in my Kodak account, got hit again by seeing my second order was cancelled again! This time, I even haven't got an email to inform me about it! I sent them an email, but haven't got response so far.
Today, I called Kodak, they told me the card was declined. It is so Funny! I am a regular online shopper, never had problem with online payment. But at Kodak, both of my cards are decline. Their customer service just kept saying 'we can't do anything. We can't do anything'. I was pissed off really!
I'm still trying to complain. Let's see...

hi keevan - looks as tho' i'll be in the same boat as yo. to be honest, if they've taken the money, they've accepted the order. the payment is in the processes of being deducted from my account at the moment and should be shown as gone from my account tomorrow. I would certainly challenge the point in their t&c's which indicate 'Acceptance of your order shall take place when payment is cleared and an acceptance e-mail is sent to you. Until then the right is reserved to decline your order'. I'm no wannabe lawyer but in my understanding, acceptance in this case is their taking a payment for the product and issuing something to indicate that they accept your order. They've done both in my case. so sorry to hear about your experience. that's totally out of order in my opinion. looking forward to speaking with them tomorrow - not! would others mind posting please just so as i can get an idea as to how many other orders were accepted/cancelled. thanks ever so much for your help. b
#40
ps - also from their t&c's: If there is a problem with your order, you will receive an e-mail notice stating what the problem is and what you need to do to correct it. (not received any correspondence at this point, wouldn't have appreciated it was cancelled had i not have checked the status of the order on the website)...
