This gives excellent picture quality as long as you have good light and avoid zooming.

is this worth the extra cash over the ZX1 that is listed at £48(ish) on Amazon and riding high as a current hotukdeal?

I watched loads of reviews of the Zi6 vs ZX1 and they are similar but the sound on the Zi6 was better (this is probably due to the weather proofing case of the ZX1).
#7
reviews say it --as i said in earlier post zx1 suited me weatherproof
#8
I own this. It's great. I paid double. Get it.
#9
what does this model have to offer over the ZX1?
#10
I got the zx1 for the charity I help out with last week, quite impressed by it. Was wondering if I should get one for myself. If you go to the Kodak website, you can compare the models, not a great deal of difference, slightly bigger screen on this one and a macro mode, but it loses weatherproofing and hdmi port over the zx1

Hopefully this link will work:

Not a bad camera for the price, I got one the other week from sendit for £49, but I have now upgraded to the kodak playsport, full 1080p HD and waterproof to 3m

Was this the one that you could use a kodak code for, and get it for just under £100?
Is code still ongoing do we know?

No it's not they are the same except the ZX1 has a rugged splashproof shell, it's best to upgrade the fimware on arrival though.

All the professional reviews have been it giving it 3 out of 5 stars of 7 out of 10 stars, with the main cons being limited on-board memory and no included memory card. Well, if you have your own big SD card already, then these two points are moot.

Another point is the lack of an image stabiliser, so it can appear shaky if you don't have steady hands. But many other camcorders in the same price have this problem too.

So all in all.. it looks like a good price for a decent (but not the absolute best) camera, which is what I want to hear and what is convincing me to splash out £57.95 for it.
#16
i have the Zx1 and after seeing this was a bit gutted theres a better newer model for a similar price i paid. looking at the kodak site tho, i think the Zx1 is better. smaller, hdmi port, and cheaper for same resolution
#17
The ZX1 is the way to go because of the HDMI port and supplied cable - plugs straight in to your HD living room TV, and the 720p footage looking great, with no hassle + a lot smaller, weatherproof and the money saved over the Zi6 will get you a 4gig sdhc card.

playsport is fantastic, had mine 2 weeks and cannot fault it, superb value

I've got my ZX1 delivered yesterday, after doing a few test videos noticed that theres lots of crackle on the microphone, tried it indoor and outdoor, firmware upto date.

So sending back to amazon for refund and going to order the Zi6

Perhaps it's the weather proof mic that causes this problem, a few other reviews mention this problem too.

Zx1 vs. Zi6.

I have a Zx1. Anyone have any suggestions for mounting it to a bike or a helmet or something? I know I'd look like an idiot but I want to try recording a first-person bike ride.

I would avoid... good price and all but apparently this video camera has a horrible background hissing noise when you replay recorded footage. But at this price maybie that can be looked over

Trolls are invisible to video, so it would be useless.

Just use a mirror it’s cheaper

Got one of these. The negative points are - no optical zoom, terrible picture in low light (plus lower frame rates too), plus mine seems to eat batteries too.

In good light, the HD picture is excellent. I'd recommend it for outdoors use only.

Just tested mine today at home, in the evening. My house is not very brightly lit (probably slightly below average), but it still managed to output a decent DVD-like picture to the 32" TV, even on the HD mode and not the HD60 mode.

The internal memory is really crap though, but I knew that from the start, so on the hunt for a good size SD card now!
