Bought one of these a few months ago for filming my little one as she grows up. Yes they can be a bit shakey but once you get used to it you can get some really good footage. Well worth it for under £50, would recommend the rubber case that amazon sell for about £7 aswell

Delivery is free and you won't be collecting it as there are no longer any high street Dixons, no mention of the free case in your original post, but you do mention quidco - for amazon?

Wow these really are cheap now. Is the Flip UltraHD really worth almost 3x more?
#15
It is no doubt about the video quality of this pocket camcorder. However, you should not expect the quality of audio because I experience that some audio noise in your recoded videos comes from camcorder itself.
Any way, hot

Hi bought this from Amazon when on hotdeals last time with the free silicon case (about 3 weeks ago) but my videos look ok when played on the device itself but very "jerky" when plyed with mediaplayer or vlc on the pc - Anyone else found this? Is there a fix?

No it's not. The flip has the edge on image quality, but is not waterproof, dosen't have an HDMI cable supplied or removable sd card slot and neither the Kodak nor Flip have an image stabilizer which is the biggest problem with these cams.

I've got this Kodak and with a steady hand the clips look stunning on my living room LCD and for £50 it's a bargain.

It's because your PC/laptop is not up to the job of playing back 720p .mov files. You need a decent dual or quad core cpu and a very recent graphics card for smooth playback, I had the same problem until I tried better PC.

I found that converting the files to 720p .wmv format in PowerProducer meant I could watch them smoothly on a P4 3ghz PC with little loss in quality, but still a hassle though. I think the supplied software will convert the files fairly easily too.

and update the fimware they are still supplied with the original.

Thanks will try the supplied software, but are u sure about this as even in VGA mode the playback seems Jerky?

If it not smooth in VGA mode then you must have a codec issue - make sure you install the latest free Quicktime player but make Media Player Classic, Gom, or VLC the default player.

Got one of these this week for the charity I help out with, will be handy for capture a few short clips when we do events/seminars. impressed with it so far, you need a steady hand and it's not so great in low light, but you have to expect those limitations with a small lens. But a great bit of kit for £50, can't go wrong at that price, might order one for myself!

Thanks i'll have to try and see if I can have a play with one somewhere.

I watched a video comparison on Youtube a while back and the quality of the Flip was easily the winner but that price difference is really changing things!

I got this recently for my daughter for her 15th birthday. It's a great little thing for fun, on the go type movies and stills - the HD quality is surprisingly good in bright light. Not so much in dim light of course and the lack of advanced features will put some people off but it is great for the youtube generation. Just to point out though - it has been £47.99 for ages, so a good deal but not a new one. Also, you can get the free silicone case as part of the deal but when I ordered, although the camera was available immediately, for some reason the case would have taken weeks to deliver. This means either waiting weeks for your free delivery or choosing to have the camera and case delivered separately which means you pay delivery charges. In the end I decided to not take the case (needed the camera quickly) and I dont think it is really needed anyway as the camera is designed to be weather resistant.

You're a star, thank you. Had this camera a month now and never bother checking for firmware updates.

Just upgraded and it works a treat.

Great camera for the price - highly recommended. Looking forward to using it on hols. Certainly beats lugging around a traditional camcorder.

I got this camera last month from Amazon, the free silicon covers weren't in stock so when they dispatched they only charge me £38 ish. Then I just cancelled the cover cause it comes with a little sock type cover anyway. So the camcorder worked out at £38.

Handy that you just plug it directly into your HDTV and play the videos. Nice little piece of kit but if you have a really good camera phone then I maybe wouldn't bother. The HD aspect is good but the camera is rather limited itself so it's not as if you are going to have videos of outstanding quality.

I would still highly recommend this for £38 though, I used it for my son's birthday and everyone who saw it wanted one!

Excellent find - thank you. H&R added

I had problems on my old PC when playing back video shot with my Zi6.
Any the PC was on its last legs, so I bought a lap top with a dual core processer and they play great.

Great little camera to carry around for outdoor stuff. It will take some really fantastic videos outside BUT its a bit pish inside, all dark and grainy. I love it because i know its limitations. I love it because it takes SD cards and uses AA's. You need an SDHC card to make best use of this camera. Forget about stills mode, your phone prob takes a better still picture.

A good camera at a fantastic price. Thumbs up and hot from me.

The stills are not that bad and the shot to shot time and processing is quick unlike my 5 megapixel samsung G600 phone wich is pure cr*p in quality and speed.

I thought this was a 720p camera, but the youtube options are 360p or 480p. Hmmm makes me not want to bother getting one.

Ignore that link, thats not taken by a ZX1!

Take a look at this, dont forget to select 720p

If you go onto youtube and type Kodak ZX1 it brings up loads of HD test vids

Hope this helps

Ordered one myself btw :D
