No it's not. The flip has the edge on image quality, but is not waterproof, dosen't have an HDMI cable supplied or removable sd card slot and neither the Kodak nor Flip have an image stabilizer which is the biggest problem with these cams.
I've got this Kodak and with a steady hand the clips look stunning on my living room LCD and for £50 it's a bargain.

It's because your PC/laptop is not up to the job of playing back 720p .mov files. You need a decent dual or quad core cpu and a very recent graphics card for smooth playback, I had the same problem until I tried better PC.
I found that converting the files to 720p .wmv format in PowerProducer meant I could watch them smoothly on a P4 3ghz PC with little loss in quality, but still a hassle though. I think the supplied software will convert the files fairly easily too.
