does anybody know what the picture is like when moving the camera fast-ish?
#2
Tempted but may go for a proper camcorder instead. Doesn't seem to do well indoors which is mostly what I'll use it for eg videos of the little one.

I've been looking at this for skiing and it seems in good light it does very well due to being able to do 60fps at 720p where a lot of others only do 30fps.

this video sold it for me

Cool, I bought this almost immediately as I'd been holding out for something exciting to spend my Amazon vouchers on :) This should make a great replacement for my previous all-weather bike camera (Oregon Scientific ATC3K).

So tempted myself to get another one but cannot justify it after going for the recent DSI deal on here.

These have no dropped to £49.99 - mines not even been dispatched yet so hopefully they'll match the new price.
#7

yeah i got the enova HD camcorder for £39.99 off pc world, still unopened, did consider flogging it on ebay and getting this model but the Enova seems to get better reviews on amazon than the kodak so going to keep it now
#14
i ccannot live with that shaking!
#15
Anti shake in a camera for 50 quid? Be realistic :)

Considering Play were selling the Disgo's for £20 in January, and they're just about good enough for Youtube, this looks like a real bargain.
#16
What do you people expect for 50 quid? If you really need a quality camera with picture stabilisation why on earth are you even looking at a £50 video camera?

Ah, I've guessed, you're hoping that this is a pricing error for a camera with all of the bells and whistles so that you can order it and then whinge for days on end about the fact that they cancelled your order!!!:whistling::whistling:

ermm no, you guys are quick to judge huh!

i've just started looking into them, but after watching a video i cannot see why anyone would buy this due to the shakey shakey nature of the video. I think it would be better to save another £50 an buy one with image stabilisation (and probably full HD too).

I guess you get what you pay for.

I'm not being sarcastic, i'm genuinly interested as to where I can get a 1080p camcorder with image stabilisation for £99.98.
#19
I've reserved another one at PC world. I'm not interested in the anti shake issue and I'm not making any HD documentaries. Just shooting some very short clips of my kids doing the usual kid stuff like falling over etc.

I've got a Sony T500 digital camera which has 720p HD movie mode. It is slim with internal lens, has 5x optical zoom (28 - 140mm), stereo recording, optical image stabilisation and also takes still pictures with flash. The image stabilisation makes the world of difference between having a watchable clip and binning it.

They've discontinued the Sony T500 (which I bought from Jessops for £150 on sale) but you may find a good used example on fleabay for cheaper. Newer models have come out such as the T90, T900 etc, but these are obviously much more expensive than this £50 Kodak and also don't seem to have as much optical zoom compared to the T500.
#21
I bought the Flip Ultra HD off play.com the other day for £140. Really impressed with the audio/video quality. The device itself looks a bit flimsy but apart from that all good.

Its not £99.98 but you can get the Kodak model up from this for £114.99, its 1080p with built in Image Stabiliser.

This is at dixons so may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere.

I it shakey video, or the fact that the person just wasn't capable of holding the camera still?
#26
definately impossible to get a properly smooth vid from these while standing / moving about.

i've had devices before which you could trigger the stabilisation. Needless to say, I wouldn't get one without it. But that's just me... I guess if you used a tripod to film, or didn't plan on moving around much, then it might be suitable for you.

It's impossible to hold it completely still!

New model available in April

Just looking on the Kodak site there is a model called the Playsport which is available from April 19th, i never really wanted a hand held camcorder but this looks good!

Its waterproof to 10ft
Full HD
image stabilization

Its £129.00 on the Kodak site but sure it will be popping up cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing this. i just orderd the ZX-1 to collect at Curry's but will cancel now that this is on the horizon - I'll pay an extra £70 to be able to take it in the sea and for the image stabilization though I will also have a quick search for some reviews

If you reserve and collect at PC world they offer you a 4GB SD HC card for half price (£9.99) to go with it.
I know you can get a 4GB SD HC card cheaper but good deal none the less.
Comes with loads of cables HDMI, Composite and a charger for your recharge batteries.
Just used mine in the office and transferred to my PC, not much shake in the vids even tough I wasn't really trying hard.

I bought the Kodak Zi6 from Currys, and posted on here, for about £50 quid, just before Chrimbo.
I got the usual comments like just use your camera phone etc.

Anyway my verdict on that model, which I imagine is simular to this, is that they do suffer terribly from shake, so I bought a tiny tri-pod of ebay for two quid, but also not great in low light.
I planned on using it for family moments like holidays, christmas morning and for £50 quid I feel its a good buy.
You will need a decent processor to watch the videos back, otherwise the videos play back choppy.
#35
I would really want to know how much time I had to left to record though, that seems like a major item missing, still heat added for cheap price and good picture quality if you can hold it still.

Might be worth lookign at this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoglRmaBVIQ&feature=related

you can mod the lense with a wide angle version, also I saw that with iMovie 09 (Mac only) you can post process the video with image stabilization, not sure if there's a PC version?

I had one of these, it worked really well, sure the image stabiliser is not upto much but you can hold it steady with practice, it also runs on aa so rechargeables can be used but emergency duracell or similar can also be used.

The Video output works really well on a HD TV but editing can be a little awkward, it is water proof i tested it and overall i was happy with it. i sold the original one to get a sanyo hd2000 but at this price i have just bought another.

the latest model 1080p stabliiser does not work very well if you look at the output on you tube, and this one does 720p 60fps for ultra smooth pans etc, all in all this is a excellent buy.
#38
thanks ordered.

Currys also doing it for the same price but with 3.5% topcash (every little helps!)

I have the ZI6, Is this one better or should i stick to what i have? :)
