Much better value then the rubbish stuff you get in supermarkets. Other models available with similar discounts but I thought most ppl here would prefer the cheapest one.

:-D This is an excellent price for a Kona. I would have gone for this if I hadn't bought my Specialized Hardrock 2010 for £250.

Good deal and voted hot.

If you are buying a bike around that price, also consider this one from Wiggle

Crikey - who would be seen out cyling a "2009 model" when we all know the 2010 model is out - beggars belief!

I recommend always waiting for next year's model - a much cheaper strategy and less clutter in the shed!

I paid almost this much for a second hand Kona five years ago (Which is still going, by the way) Good price for an excellent brand. Should be pretty easy to convert to a hybrid (Semi slick tyres, maybe a pannier rack) if you ride mostly in town.

Definitely worth the money if you plan on using it regularly.

Kona make great bikes ... this looks like an excellent deal.

I bought a lower end Kona mountain bike nearly 8 years ago and it's still going really strong.
#15
Thats jsut the sort of bike all the 'look at my great £70 Tesco's bike' sorts on here should be buying.

Always worth buying 'last year's' models too.

Like an Aluminium Frame? Don't think so :whistling:

Anybody who buys a bike from Sports Direct or Tescos deserves to fall under the bus that is behind them when their brake cable snaps or their pedals fall off.

im looking for a bike like this... how does it compare to something like a Giant Boulder?..
Ive been given advice from a few bike shops - not to stray from Giant if im spending around £200

Not much between them to be honest, you wouldn't go wrong with either of them for £200.

Is this better than the Aggressor? :)

I think the best way to measure it in your head is to - measure your inside leg measurement to the floor, subtract 3" (you should be clear 3'' ove the top tube when standing over it) then take off another 10" - which is the distance of the pedels bracket to the ground.. The resulting figure should be the frame size you need.
Its slightly less relevent for ladies - as obviously, theyre not going to have as much as an issue with their tenders if a sudden stop is needed.

Although i would say, if you're spending that much on a bike - go out and try it first in store.. different brands fit differently.. theres also the reach to look at. Most stores will price match.

Also check out Decathlon if you have one near you. They do great bikes, not sure if anything in your budget but come highly recommended.

Well I don't see as knowing the difference between a good bike cheap, and a cheap bike is snobbery.

Nobody has been advising high spec / high cost bike here, merely good quality basic level mountain bikes.

Just to clarify.......You think that people who purchase cheap bicycles deserve to die in a horrific road accident? .... (Can you remove Rep?)
#36
BTW I personally have a Speciaized with Alu frame....Not from Sports Direct. My previous comments were a about buying a bike from there were purely to get a rise out of the bike snob brigade on here.

I have bought a bike from Sports Direct...for my 10yr old Daughter.........who you you think should die when her peddles fall off.

Its not the best bike, but the peddles are secure, the brakes work and she doe's not cycle on the road. She will also grow out of it in 2 years time. - Worth £49 in my opinion.
#37
Thanks to OP. Ordered 2 for my daughters. Should be a darn sight better than the Apollo bikes they got last time around.
#38
Smallest size I'm seeing is 18" unless anyone can point to smaller.
#39
anyone know the weight of this bike - the cheapo one I have at the moment (actually it was free when I joined Fitness First) seems to be lined with lead as it weighs a ton.

Also anyone seen any good ladies bike offers recently - I need to get a bike for the wife.

What style e.g. MTB or hybrid & what budget range are you looking at?
