Just spotted this in my local Tesco tonight, this is even cheaper than buying in Ikea. 500ml bottles are normally £1.99+ in Supermarkets. Tesco are selling packs of 8 500ml Bottles for only £6! This makes 24 Bottles £18 or the individual bottle price only 75p!

This stuff is absolutely delicious!

Spotted instore at Glasgow Silverburn Tesco, unsure if online

*** POSSIBLY ONLY AVAILABLE IN GLASGOW SILVERBURN STORE - AWAITING CONFIRMATION OF SIGHTINGS IN OTHER TESCOS ***

Why don't they call it perry anymore?

Cider is made from apples, perry is made from pears.
#2
Don't know actually, I knew it was called Perry but it seems to have been dropped. Perhaps the cider companies felt it was too old fashioned?

All the Pear Ciders are advertised on the bottle as Pear Cider.
#3
Probably to distance themselves from Babycham.
#4
yuk its nasty
#5
wow paid £3.15 for 1 bottle in a bar today
#6
its tasty and refreshing xx

what has happened to cider, this is an alcopop
if you want cider go to somerset and find a farm.

although saying that i have been partial to a bottle or two of this in my time...
and this is a hot deal

Unfortnately, IKEA is the only place that i can find that does the non-alcoholic one :(
#10
Can't find any deal online so probably just a local deal.
#11
Morrison's do the non alcoholic one 99p.

Damn I wish I had have knew about this, I just bought 24 cans for £19.,00 from Ikea which is only a £1 more but they taste better out of the bottle!!!! Gutted about that!

The Non Alcholic one tastes nice btw if your driving and can't drink the normal stuff.

David Squance - My rents have just been to somerset for 2 days and was around Frome and did not see one farm to get me a bloody cider thing. However if they did would they have done pear?!

Also.....somerset is a bit far:P
#12
haha fair play, i recon they got you some tried it and decided to keep it for themselves it was so good
theres plenty of cider farms around Frome
i feel sorry for you that you didn't get any juice though
theres a few farms that sell perry about but most use the traditional apple, i love a bit of the cloudy farmhouse
#13
might give this ago!

Hottest deal on alcohol by far...this stuff is lovely on a hot summer's day!
#17
sounds great!!!

i love that stuff!!

I see a trip to Tesco coming up soon.

But I actually prefer the Apple flavour given the option and Tesco is the only place near me that I can find that sells it.

But Toffee Apple Brothers Cider is something else again. I can only find that in one place, a stall at Borough Market.

Thats gutting they do do pear cider.....I think my parents are blind...or were lying and drank it themselves.

Apprently pear cider is the preserve of the cider makers, as they believed pear cider was superior to apple....I think they are right, its took a long time to catch on though lol.
#20
I'm loving this deal.. £1.69 is the best price in my local area.. nice drink aswell... i'm loving pear cider atm and...cider/perry who cares.. it's a pretty loose term anyways http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cider ......... bulmers pear cider has blatantly got apples in it.. you can tast the sharp apple kick but this one is smoother and sweet without being too sharp.
#21
Why is anyone trying to find non-alcoholic cider? what is the point? drink apple juice or pear juice!!
#22
It's not very good though. Far too sweet.
#23
Would be good if somebody can confirm if this is a nationwide deal tomorrow rather than a Local Tesco offer in my neck of the woods. For reference it was in the aisle with the Booze Offers (Coors for £8 was one I remember)

Perry is a british name for pear cider. This is Swedish so they're not going to call it Perry.
#25
Isn't perry french or something?

On top of the Kopparberg cans theres a different word for pear in loads of languages, including "Pear" and "Perry", so I would say it's not a British name for pear cider at all, i'd say its a name we adopted for it
#26
:-( I didn't see this but just happened to buy 8x bottles of Koppaberg Berg Pear tonight, (Fantastic beverage, beats any kind or bulmers or cider hands down), it came to £15.92 at the till! Obviously must be a location thing!
#27
Yeah, I'm wanting to know whether this is nationwide or not? I remember an old Kopparberg deal at Tescos advertised on here that didn't exist in my neck of the woods, which was devestating!

I need to know! :-D

Lmao. That is so trippy...just literally come home from a night out on this stuff and had an arguement for about 40 minutes with a girl who believed this was cider and not perry! Im so with you!

Back to the deal however, this does seem like a goody! Also, seriously, drink only this and you will have no hangover! Nice one!

There's me thinking it was the first name of a famous singer! :whistling:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry_Como

Hey, someone's pinched and expanded my avatar! Bo selecta!

Perry is definitely not an alcopop, it was hugely successful in the 16th and 17th century and whilst Cider was considered a bit of a low class drink some Perrys were as highly regarded as champagne. unfortunately due to the commercialisation of the drinks industry and the difficulty and time it takes to cultivate a good crop of perry pears the industry went into decline at the start of the 20th century. with only a brief period of good fortune with the likes of Babycham and Lambrini making the drink popular again amongst teenage girls. although Ireland still has a pretty strong Perry industry (as do France and Sweden obviously).

personally I still prefer perry when its distilled into pear brandy.

It was the alcoholic one. It was a very large Tesco, Tesco Extra. Maybe it's not available in smaller ones?
#36
Updated first post to reflect fact it may only be in my local store, in which case I'm going back to stock up!
#37
Not available in Cardiff Culverhouse Cross. Boo!
#38
Maybe worth pointing out this was i the seasonal aisle in Silverburn (thanks Windle bargain!!!) and not in the alcohol aisle. So it's wioth the barbecue stuff etc.,
#39
Should be marked as expired or non existent.

£1.40 in Asda in Wolstanton. :) Bulmers pear is £1 a bottle but it's nowhere near as nice...

Non in Tesco Extra :x
