Bought this lock only a month a go and nearly £10 has come off the price since then. It's really a great buy - small enough even to fit in jacket pockets, comes with an illuminated key, good bike mount and is extremely tough.

Currently selling elsewhere:
Wiggle ............. £40.49
Evans Cycles .. £44.99

An excellent choice for a great lock if you are looking!

Damn - thought it was made of kryptonite when I saw the header.

Thank you for posting, wanted my lad to have a good lock for his new Xmas bike and this seems to fit the bill perfectly and has some great reviews even at £35-£40!

No problem nictry. Just bear in mind that it is smaller than a 'normal' D lock. I bought a cable to go with mine as I thought I'd have trouble with certain places, but I've not really had any issues yet. At most you might need to spend a few more seconds looking for a more suitable locking-spot.

Good deal, ta. Got the larger version but wont fit in my frame when cycling, this one is quite a lot shorter so should be fine.

Evans will pricematch if you have one local and don't want to wait for delivery.

Seems like a good price.

Good price for a great lock, especially if you don't want to lug around the weight of the larger version.

theres a better one at poundstrecher, was on clearance at £10, seemed solid and good quality in yellow, if i can remember the RRP on it was something like £30- £60, not 100% but was expensive.

So will this keep the Superman away?

Thanks, superman can't nick my bike this time!

Good locks but this small one will be very limiting. I have the oversized version of the same one and even then its difficult sometimes to find somewhere you can lock your frame and rear wheel too.

After about 2 years of daily use (and twice yearly cleaning and oiling) it's only just started to go a bit rusty.

Sheldon Brown loves the smaller 'U' locks when paired with a cable lock, partly because you can't get a bottle jack in them (as you can with many of the larger 'U' locks) when locked in the way he illustrates here:

Ha, Sheldon is god. I didn't even think of this:

People tend to buy the big clunky U-locks because they don't know how to use them properly. A U-lock should go around the rear rim and tire, somewhere inside the rear triangle of the frame. There is no need to loop it around the seat tube as well, because the wheel cannot be pulled through the rear triangle.

I have the standard size version -its the best bike lock I have ever brought. It was from a deal posted on here, paid about £10 years ago and still works like the day I brought it.

Someone was stupid enough to try and nick my bike and unfortunately damged the bike trying bady at sawing this without any luck.

It is a bit large for modern bikes so this one with a cable for extra protection is great. Although voted hot, I do agree its a bit expensive.

Note there is a little alan key hole in the mount if you want to turn it around, its not very obvious.

Sheldon Brown died in 2008.
