Three great movies for a cracking price!

2001: A Space Odyssey
A four-million-year-old black monolith is discovered on the moon, and the government sends a team of scientists on a fact-finding mission while hiding the truth from the public. Later, another team is sent to Jupiter in a ship controlled by the perfect HAL 9000 computer to further investigate the giant object--but something goes terribly wrong.

Full Metal Jacket
Full Metal Jacket begins by following the trials and tribulations of a platoon of fresh Marine Corps recruits focusing on the relationship between Gunnery Sergeant Hartman and Privates Pyle and Joker. We see Pyle grow into an instrument of death as Hartman has foreseen of all of his recruits. Through Pyle's torment and Joker's unwillingness to stand up against it, the climax of part one is achieved with all three main characters deciding their fates by their action or lack there of. The second chapter of Full Metal Jacket delves into Joker's psyche and the repeated referral to the fact that he joined the Corps to become a killer. When his mostly behind the scenes job as a combat correspondent is interfered with by the Tet offensive he is thrusted into real combat and ultimately must choose if he really is a killer.

A Clockwork Orange
The old ultra-violence is back, as ultra-brilliant as anything Stanley Kubrick ever directed. Demonic gang-leader Alex - Malcolm McDowell's career defining performance - goes on the spree of rape, mugging and murder with his pack of "droogs." But he's a boy who also likes Beethoven's Ninth and a bit of "the old in-out, in-out." Then he finds himself at the mercy of the state and its brainwashing experiment designed to take violence off the street and put it at the service of the government.

Wow amazing! But I'm holding out for a decent Blu-Ray deal, anyone got one?

3 great films. A Clockwork Orange was years ahead of its time.

For hardcore 2001 fans this Q&A in 2006 with the actors might be of interest to you

I've never managed to watch 2001 all the way through. Not comparing the two by any means but someone on another thread said Inception made their head hurt ... 2001 sends me to sleep!

Heat added anyways.

It is quite a drawn-out film, granted. Its magical to watch though I think, unlike the dreary Inception.

Great find btw OP, would buy it if I didn't have them already

Good films, but I despise the packaging of DVDs with a blue band across the top to make you think at a glance it is the bluray edition

Although in this case, the boxset pre-dates bluray

I thought it was also a bluray and thought that was why it was designed that way. Just a coincidence then.

Does anyone know if these are the single or double (SE) disk editions?
