This is a bit of a last minute deal and not for everyone, but thought it was worth the plug...

The business class airline - La Compagnie, that flies from London-Luton to New York (Newark), the other day announced it was suspending the service from the 24th September and has decided to focus on operations from Paris instead...

In-order for the airline to fill their seats on the route for the last 2-3 weeks of operation, they have reduced ticket prices to £349 each way, including all taxes. These are non-flexible and non-refundable tickets.

Usually tickets on the route have sold for around £1200 return, but can now be obtained for under £700.

To give you an idea, I have looked on travel price comparison site Kayak and business class tickets from Heathrow to New York in September are around £1500-1800 return, so quite a big saving.

Also economy tickets seem to be ranging from £450-600 in September, so for a small extra amount, you can upgrade!

The ticket price includes priority access through security and access to the business lounge before the flight at both airports. On the flight itself, you get a large business class seat, which nearly lies flat (175 degrees), chef-inspired food served on china plates, champagne and in-flight entertainment on a 12 inch tablet.

(The new Aspire business class lounge at Luton is definitely worth a visit and
avoids the chaos of all the expansion work taking place.)

The Boeing 757 which operates the flight only holds 74 seats, where usually they seat 200+ passengers.

Here is a link to their service you can expect:
https://www.lacompagnie.com/uk/the-company/our-offer

There will be some snobs, expressing how Luton is not a London airport and how the airline is not proper business class.

Some people would argue the seats are not as good as other airlines and the food is not quite so good. Also the airline does not offer the frequency of flights or frequent flier miles of other airlines, but when you are paying half the price of another airlines business class ticket, I think you can forgive some of the differences.

Here is a YouTube Video giving you an idea of what to expect with the airline:

Sadly this company has announced that they will no longer fly this route- Effective Sunday, September 25, La Compagnie will stop flying between NYC and London. In place of this route, La Compagnie will add a second daily flight between NYC and Paris “as soon as October 2016.”

Hence why I put in the second paragraph of this post:

Shame - flew with them on the £250 a leg opening offer and were great just worring lact of resilience, I had to cancel another booking and took me 9 month to get airport taxes back only after heading to small claims court as insurance said not covered by policy !

It generally means that they have hired a chef (possibly Michelin starred, possibly celebrity, possibly from their local Chinese restaurant...) on a consultancy basis to design and structure their menu.

Great value for what's going to be a relatively quiet and relaxed flight, business at economy prices and not having 300+ folk all piling in at the gate.

I know... when I saw this deal though, I just had this horrible vision of poor people buying tickets and taking selfies all through the flight... and wearing trainers instead of brogues.

from Luton, that explains why its cheaper.
USA may have a special immigration control unit for people flying from Luton

Newark may be in New Jersey, but it is closer and quicker into Manhattan through the Holland Tunnel from there than from JFK, or you can take the spectacular Verrazano Bridge.

The view from the terminal across the bay and Hudson of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline is also pretty good. I'd take Newark over JFK, and Newark also gives better access to the 95 and can be used for Philly.

It's the attitude you wear in life not the clothing that counts, tight fitting footwear on a flight, crazy!

It's about experience not artificially making yourself feel superior to the next human, some peoples behaviour does that for themselves.

Great deal but I do think calling Luton 'London', and Newark NJ 'New York' is pushing it!

You're the reason they are suspending the Luton service!!! ;D

That is quite simply the best /OTT customer service example(from their side) I've ever heard, ha, you did good.

Someone at work flew with them this year and got similar compensation. They (La Compagnie) phoned him up the day before the flight was due to leave to say they didn't have enough staff so would have to bump his flight out to the next day (and bumped him to a day later for the return flight also). This obviously had a knock on effect to hotels he had booked etc.

he flew on a deal that was about £1750 for 2 people and with all the compensation (paid back to his CC) it only cost him about £800 for the two in the end.

I flew with these earlier this year and it was fantastic.

Free lounge access at Luton where you can eat and drink as much as you want (they do a cracking single malt whisky, free of course) whilst the zoo goes on outside.

Free Priority security so you can look down your nose at all the plebs queuing to go through the normal security queue.

Guy waiting with an umbrella so you didn't get wet walking to the plane.

Free drinks on board, champagne etc...food was excellent on board, foie gras etc... and the best looking stewardesses I have ever seen wearing shorts and speaking English with that sexy French accent.

Virtually flat bed with a 2x2 seat configuration, so you can walk freely around the aircraft.

Fantastic experience.

The missus and I will be flying to Charles de Gaulle to pick this up when we go to New York next as it's that good.

Derogatory comments en masse are not ironic, they are downright vulgar, judge others by behaviour not their class or flight class, or your assumed class of them or clothing. I've seen 'popstars' in their boxers in the upper class cabins and heads of major company divisions think they were royalty. How you behave towards others and vocal comments really is what determine class, classy or full of it/yourself :)

Its nice to be nice ;)

Have you flown easyjet/ryanair ? I used both once or twice many years ago...Ryanair did not even have a bus service available for its last incoming flight at a 'Paris' arrival, but the website said it did. Would have been cheaper after taxis to book BA to CDG :/

not a deal that should be rated this hot in my opinion so.....Cold from me

Worth noting the seats are more akin to Premium Economy than traditional business as they are angled lie flat, fantastic price for this though and well worth it (given PE return flights on OneWorld usually cost around £1100). Hot!

My seat didn't even work on my flight back with them so it was 90!

It (feels to me) a lot more angled than the quoted 175, some may not notice, just presented my opinion. :3

This looks to me like the old Maxjet planes max jet were excellent and out of all my flights across the Atlantic with over half being in business this was my favourite,

I've flown with them a couple of times. If you search on travel forums you'll find literally hundreds of disgruntled customers. However - i gave them benefit of the doubt and then was delayed BOTH WAYS - the outward flight was cancelled 4 hours before it took off, moved to heathrow, where slowly the entire flight of passengers turned up and were left in the day for more hours. Finally some of us got an economy seat on delta. Customer services were a joke - the heathrow (delta) staff were amazing but said they frequently had to deal with this.

This is a bargain at your own risk.
