Good price. :)

Anyone used IT247 before?

On checking, this might not be as good as I thought. Looking at the pic, I thought it was a single 1TB drive, but it's not. They've used the wrong picture and it's actually bulkier than this because it uses two 500GB drives.

Still looks to be the cheapest price by about £10 though (voted hot obviously), it just would have been so much sweeter if it had been a slimmer single drive device. :)

Hi i work for IT247 ,and i have updated the picture. Lacie did send us the picture , however it is the large drive as stated by the member "Nightswimmer". Thanks to "nightswimmer" for the correction.

Load of rubbish its just 2 x 500GB hard drives in rubbish noisy enclosure that will get very hot.

Voted COLD

Price isn't even very good.

Even building your own (2 x 500GB + Dual Enclosure) will set you back about £130 to £150, so this isnt actually all that of a bad price. Granted I would never buy them based on the bad reputation for insufficient cooling and hard drive failure, but still... decent price for what it is

Considering you can buy the Samsung F1 1TB drive for under £100 you'd be better off combining that with a eSATA enclosure.

USB2 is SLOOOOOOOOOOW, maxes out around 25MB/s. Doesn't sound too bad but when you're moving big files you really start to see its effect.

Terabytes in a box now for under a hundred plus vat!

carefull guys, I boughta TV from these guys it was broke on arrival and it took them 6 weeks to organise a return and refund, they tried to get me to log with manufacturer so that they could pick up a working one, had to contact trading standards in the end.

Personally wouldnt buy a Lacie again - have had lots of issues with overheating and intermittent access of the files(and this was the same with about 4 Lacie drives we have owned in the past).

However, I cant fault the price, and I may have just been unlucky! Voted warm from me(hot if these problems are sorted!).

I have this 1Tb hard drive
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3496946/Western-Digital-1TB-My-Book-2-Essential-Edition-USB2-0-External-Hard-Drive/Product.html

Its really quiet, and slightly smaller than a Wii

I strongly recommend it over the Lacie one

I use Windows Media Player 11 to stream video and music etc to my Xbox using the Official MS Wireless adapter from my PC.

Given external drives use USB 2.0 to connect to the PC,could I stream video etc adequately to my 360, or would I need a new internal drive?

Thanks

USB2 is fine for streaming to Xbox, its much quicker than over 802.11g wifi.

Yes, but i will still be using wifi.

Will be:

External Hard Drive >USB> Computer>Ethernet>Router>Wifi>Xbox

That will still work, or you can just plug it directly into the Xbox.

With your way the wifi is still the bottleneck, so it won't cause any problems using it via USB2.0
