At £75.99 including delivery it seems to be at least £15 cheaper for the same model than anywhere else. When ordering it says "supplied to special order" - it took about 10 days to arrive. Seems real good value(£5 cheaper than their 250GB model which seems to be available from their shops only) , small, nice design and runs fairly quiet.

i have had 2 of these LaCie drives (80 gig and 160gig) on 24/7 for over 2 years now. Not the slightest problem. Maybe it is the larger capacity drives that generate more heat?

i have a 250gb one already and it does get a bit hot... but not scary hot! lol

behibehi do you stack them?

do you stack them?

indeed I do - under my desk, in fact. They get a little warm, but I see that as a good thing - the enclosure acts as a giant heatsink and draws all the heat away.

Welcome to HotUKDeals behibehi and Thanks for the post :)

That's a good theory for the case drawing the heat away, but it does mean the space around the hard drive itself would be around the same temperature? As long as it's warm and not too hot to touch, I would think it would be fine :-D

I've never owned a LaCie hard drive, so can't comment on how good or bad they are though.

Had mine 3 or 4 days now, almost full, it gets warm but not hot. It's slower when copying files than I thought it would be (even with USB2) especially when there are thousands of small files. I turn mine off when not in use - doesn't seem to be any automatic shutdown of any sort, wonder if there is a way to spin down the drive when not in use after a certain number of minutes. They could have spent a few more pennies and got a longer USB cable and the separate laptop style power supply is the last I needed. Apart from that I use it purely to backup music, fotos and operating systems in case of crashes, so far so good.
