Their website never works for me in either IE6 or FF2

Reviews for this drive on overclockers.co.uk say it's a good drive but the USB cable is very short at about 30cm. You may want to factor in the cost of a longer one.

Good price though - hard to get a bare drive for that.

Who really cares who designs a hard drive case?? There was a 500GB ext hard drive yesterday for under £40. Therefore this ones voted cold for me i'm afraid.

lol yeah most definitely a miss price if you could provide an actual legitimate link to a 500gb HD for under £40 without talking out your **** then that would be great too :3

Have a few smaller versions of this..the case looks OK at first glance but is very cheaply made (Chrome plated plastic etc). It's small though and perfectly adequate.

Great deal for the price, though!
#9
ok but its only £68.13 at amazon...

Good price, voted hot

Nice drives - I've got 2 of them. I paid £117 not so long ago, so a good price!
#12
oh you twit the £40 was a mis-price. duh.
#13
isn't isomega 500G at £69 a better deal?

Anybody get well below 100gbp for a 500gb external with multiple connections including FireWire?
#16
This companies website is a disgrace, it does not work correctly with IE6, can get nothing in the basket, it tries to redirect and to top it you get no response when you advise the bug to the company.

I also saw some 'bargains' on the site and called them, the phone response was also very poor and after a lot of messing about said it was a mistake, the product was described incorrectly and they did not have any anyway.
#17
Is it me or does it now say £70.37 (Inc vat)?
#18
Now £70.37 and out of stock until 31st July
#19
Try this instead if you do not need 500GB.
#20
I wouldn't trust Lacie personally - too many bad experiences. Very very prone to overheating. If you are planning it as an extension to your desktop PC - ie an "always on" hard drive - I would reconsider.

Or even better, this Buffalo Terrastation 500GB SATA external HDD (credits go to Simmo81, cheers), for £70.91 + £4.50 delivery.
I'm going to get one myself, the sturdy, clean design is worth the extra £5...

Buyers beware: I ordered the 500GB Freecom NAS drive posted on HotUKDeals 20 days ago and not only has it still not arrived, but I have sent the company (IT247) 3 emails about it over the last week or so and not received a single reply yet. They offer no phone number to call them either. Avoid these, they're obviously a very amateur company indeed.

I'm a few days away from calling my credit card company and putting in a formal complaint with IT247.

For your "video editing" and "Linux distributions", I take it?
#29
I've called the 0845 sales number and the 0161 local number, every time it goes straight to answer machine. I've left numerous messages with no replies. Hard-drive still hasn't arrived.
#30
please give me your reference number the SO number and i will sort this out for you . paul
#32
Paul,

That is the email address that I had already emailed last week. However you have provided me with your personal address via PM so thank you for that, hopefully this matter will be resolved soon.
#33
Amazon for some time now has the same drive for 72.57 free delivery. Now delivery time has changed to 4 to 6 weeks (some mistake?). But USB simply doesn't cut it.

These are back in-stock at £70.24 delivered!
