Drivers Dream Days have the following cars on offer @ £50 each

9th @ Kenilworth, Coventry
16, 17 @ Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire.

Lamborghini (If you by this, when you book they give you the option to upgrade to the LP640)
Ferrari 360
Porsche 911
Aston Martin DB9
Audi R8
TVR
Bentley Continental GT

I have used them before and had no problems

Super day, ended up with the 360 Stradale and 360 Spyder and am heading back for the LB640 this weekend

A bit of waiting around but didn't really bother me as you can just check out the cars

Staff were really friendly and the instructors really pushed you to hit the cars potential, I hit 164mph so they don't mind you pushing it to its limit if you show you have half a brain

Prices only applicable to the above dates

Lamborghini (If you by this, when you book they give you the option to upgrade to the LP640)

?? at a cost or free... whats better IYO thrill or experience
#5
I thought they were selling them !
But decided not to bother as the insurance would be to high ;-)

Word of advice - go to Bruntingthorpe and NOT Kenilworth. The track at Kenilworth is pants and you can hardly get any speed up, its all coned off bends!!

I have heard that if you quote HUKD to your insurance company - They give you a 99.9% loyalty discount!!

I wish...lol

Insurance is included but if you damage it you have to pay a certain amount or you can pay £25 and get 100% waiver.

Chances of damaging it I would say were pretty slim but you never know.

The upgrade to the LP640 is at cost.

I'm not sure there is really a lot of difference between the expereinces. You can pay and drive on the day so if you book a ferrari you can just turn up for that and buy a lambo or 911 on the day if you want more laps.

I think the experience is simply multiple cars i.e. Ferrari V Lambo or 360 v 430 etc Thrill is just X laps in X car
banned#9
That's a bargain. Sounds like a possibility for hubby's birthday.
#10
Does anyone know the difference between a Thrill and experience??

Thrils are £50 and experience is £60!!
#11
How much driving time do you get for £50?

Depends on the circuit, I got about 6 miles each on my first two!

I did the Lambo at Kenilworth, track is pants as it's designed so you dont get any real speed up and the Gallardo is a convertible which I didn't enjoy as i personally found it harder to concentrate with all the noise!

whatever you do, take your own SD card, they charge £20 for a 1gb!!!!

Whats the SD Card for?
#18
the SD card slots into the onboard camera and films you, the spped / rev counter and the track and then they burn it to DVD for you, I doubt if you took your own they would let you slot it it.

Yup, used before, no proba at all, there is also a Village Hotel about 5 miles away which if you use LCP discount code the rooms range from £25 - 40 per night inc full english breakfast, down from £120 I believe

re speed, I still managed to hit 160mph on the back straight so not too bad.

Hotel was decent enough, restaurant did good food, pub was pretty lively for a hotel pub.

I went and did a driving experience at the Kenilworth location literally just a few weeks ago and it was superb. A few things you might want to know..

* There are catering and toilet facilities, etc.

* If you crash a car on the day, you're liable for £2,000 excess. You can take out cover before you go driving for £25 which covers you for this amount.. it's up to you whether you take it out, but just be aware before you rush off and do this! Whilst I was on my last lap, a pheasant walked out onto the track and I had to jam on the brakes pretty hard to avoid it - I didn't spring for the £25 cover but in retrospect I wish I had!

* You can pay for additional laps in other cars on the day - when I was there, they had a a nice selection of cars at prices from about £25-40 a lap depending on what you choose to drive. There was a huge queue for rides in the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale.. so if you book / pay for laps in that, prepare to wait.

* If you spin a car, you're immediately ejected from the circuit. So my advice is not to spend a fortune on laps and then drive like an idiot as soon as you get behind the wheel.

* If you don't like being driven fast, opt out of the 'fast passenger lap' - an instructor took four of us round in a BMW M3 CSL and I genuinely thought I was going to die. It was an awesome experience but I could imagine my girlfriend probably would have got out of the car crying...

The Lamborghini I drove effortlessly got me up to 125MPH. Someone there on the day told me the LP640 got up to 160MPH on the main straight at one point... so the thrills are there to be had. Just don't go there expecting to throw a Lamborghini around like you would a Ford Fiesta - they're devastatingly and shockingly quick, and will bite if you don't respect them!

i went to the loughborough one last year and drove the Maserati GT. paid £125 for about 4 laps lol. its really not worth that, but it is worth £50.
they charge like £20 for a photo! small tracks and you have an expert sat with you telling you how to drive. you dont really get to do much except go fast., no tight turns etc...
#21

They have not got a James Bond Car there have they, thought it was the Aston Martin that had the ejector seat?
#22
I drove the Aston DB9 at Bruntingthorpe and it was awesome. Got 4 laps in the car, and there are 2 parts to the circuit after the 1st bend depending on how you're driving. If you're slow or unsure then they take you round some bends with cones over the rumble strips, if you're fast and confident they take you up to the top straight which is where you can put your foot down. I overtook a Lotus Elise at 135mph on that straight, felt amazing and the car sounds great.

They really let you be aggressive with the revs too, the guy said to me at the start that he wants me to take the revs quite high so I could hear the engine in all its glory. It's true that if you spin then you'r straight off, but it really would be impossible to spin. All of these cars must have traction control and the instructor tells you when to brake, as well as having braking markers on the side of the track.

Anyway, well worth £50!

Pity that this offer doesn't include Nissan GTR else my BF would love me more if I got this gift for him ...I guess I'll wait for the GTR experience to go down from £100 to £50 :-D
banned#24
The difference between THRILL and EXPERIENCE is almost notihng - with the 'experience' you just get one extra lap !! - so iguess for £10 extra its worth it
#25
They have these offers from time to time. I had lambo experience for £50 last year (people had paid £50 for thrill and experience - you got an extra 2 laps with experience!!). Its was quite good fun, although weather was bad when I did it and speed had to be kept down, there was a lot of waiting too...

PS Also did a rally driving day in a Subaru - that was a lot more fun, lot more time in the car and I felt I really learnt a lot. Cost is a lot higher, but VFM a lot greater IMHO.
#26
It's actually £70 or £80 due to the waiver cover.

You don't have to take it! It's optional.

Standard insurance is included.

I would agree that they are devastatingly quick, you can run through the track a hundred times in your head, think you will do this and do that and be super quick but as soon as you hit the throttle, you'll be at 120+mph before you even have time to check you're at 8,500 revs, need to change gear and the corner is approaching faster than Christmas.

It would take you a while to get seriously confident in one of these things.
#28
is there a age limit? or isit just if you have a full uk license?
#29
They normally have a restriction, but this one just says 17 with full UK licence!!! I might go for it, they are normally like 19 or 21 sometimes. I'l have to try and tempt some of my friends, it would be awesome.

You could have also read it yourself

EDIT: I just need to see how much of a treck this is from Pembrokeshire, then see if it is worth it...

EDIT: Hmmm, just a bit further than Birmingham, it might be worth it, I went up there in March to see Metallica

I have done one of these track days at Bruntingthorpe in the past - It was a Ferrari that I drove that day. The price does seem like a good deal - so long as it is for more than 1 lap!

The only problem that I had with Driver Dream days is that I had to wait about 20mins on the phone to book my "driver dream day". Which was more than a little frustrating. Despite this it was a fantastic day.

What TVR was it?

I would guess at the Tuscan, I can't see it being an old skooll cebera. This things ate proper hard to drive, you need serious skills to control them at their limit or even at speed, really twitchy but a 'real' driving experience I would imagine, although the 360 is all manual, not toys on that to help you out.

Re age I think you have to have held a full um licence for 2+ years so not provisional / new boys I'm afraid, that said, some of the folk last time looked really young but you can also buy hot laps for kids!
#32
Personally i had a red letter day and i found it was the worst driving experience i'd ever had the instructor was t...s and you can hardly get any speed up because there are so many bends and too many short distances. Save your money and if you have a quickish car do a track day you'll have the most fun/driving experience ever.
#33
having driven 5 out of the six of these, may i suggest you spend your £50 on buying fuel for your own car, believe me they're not that special !!!

On a track or jst around the block?

A friends of mines old man manages a Ferrari garage and says track driving and just driving the cars is a world apart.

I would have to say the opposite, don't put petrol in your car for a week if it means you can do this.

Feeling 0-100 in sub 10 secs is an amazing feeling but efferent strokes different folks!

Re: the SD cards the person you drive with is just a driver and has nothing to do with the card sales all they know to do is how to slot them in the car, the video sales people try to get you to buy their ones by saying you have to take them back after the drive, but this is just for them to check the video files work

Just turn up with your own branded card have it in your hand when you get in the drivers seat and they will just ask for it, £20 saved!

Where are people getting £25 for the insurance from? Looking at http://www.driversdreamdays.co.uk/misc/upgrades-damage-waiver-pre-booked/prod_364.html isn't it £20?
