WAIT BEFORE YOU ALL BUY IT!

Looking into it further, it looks like they might be misselling it across the DSG group and infact ebuyer, it's advertised as 2.6Ghz, though the processor a T6400 appears to be 2.0Ghz...

Either they've put the wrong processor down, or more likely they've put down the wrong processor speed.

Saying that, it still looks like a fairly decent price for the rest of the spec..

Graphics Card Type Mobile Intel GM45 Express:?

I believe this is a new 2.0ghz processor.

It only has a intel graphics card which does not look brill to be honest for the price.
Dell do similar machines for £399 like the new 15 version they have brought out.

this is not the new generation of processor, this has been around for a few years, still good anyway! the best you can get on a laptop at the moment are the P generation

hdd is good, ram is good...shame for the graphics...and only 3 usb...i don't think its hot so i wont vote

its not been around that long, it's 45nm and 35W which is good for power saving

Acer... so you'll be throwing it away after a year.

Rather save £100 and get the acer with the radeon 3200, and athlon dual core and 3gb ram

And thats a load of crap, Acer ranked very high nowadays in customer satisfaction surveys.

Perhaps think first instead of spouting rubbish with nothing to back it up.

I have an acer. Their customer service is the worst i think ive ever encountered. The build quality isnt even as good as my old Advent. Battery now lasts 10 mins. Its 6 months old.

I've had no problems with the 3 Acer laptops I've bought in the last 5 years, 2 of which were dixons refurbs.

They get used every day & there has been no problems with any of them. Build quality is very good for the price I paid.

Anyone know where to get cheapest 17" or better still the acer 18" please?

I have a very similar laptop to this apart from 250g hdd and 9600m GT graphics card.

Had it a month or two and so far has been brilliant. mines plays latest games no problems but I would recommend this one for non gamers due to awful g card. Mine is the 16" widescreen too.

And to those who slate acer I dont doubt they are probably not the best paid laptops out there but they are great value for money. This is the second one I have owned and if this one lasts me for the next 2 or 3 years like the last one i will buy an acer again next time. Last one still runs fine just got a little dated.

Also its worth noting that they brough out a crazy amount of versions of this laptop. I even phoned acer direct about my current one before i bought it and the the guy didnt even know the version existed!! haha

so do not try and compare them exactly unless you put in the whole code i.e 5735z - XXXXXXXXXXX

the guy with the battery problem. have you had in plugged in via mains the whole time? if so i would recommend taking battery out if you use mains most of the time. it doesnt do the battery alot of good.

if anyone is wanting a gaming version then the 6930 is mine;

Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor.
2.0GHz processor speed.
2MB cache.
4GB DDR2 RAM.

16in full HD Acer CineCrystal(tm) widescreen.
Resolution 1366 x 768 pixels.

250GB SATA hard drive capacity.

Multiformat dual layer optical drive.

nVidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card.
1GB graphics memory.

which i managed to get for £453 refurb (inc years warranty)
