Will this work on dell inspiron 1520? Anyone knows?
#10
its been this price for a week or so, like adey100 I ordered the 2GB Kingston value SODIMM ram about a month ago but that went out of stock and then onto back-order with 7dayshop eventually saying they wont be getting any more in stock so cancelled my order (annoying as i'd ordered when it was still stating stock levels were at 'PLENTY' - dont know what stock system 7dayshop use but its obviously not a very good one).

I was tempted by this deal but having never heard of Dane-Elec memory before I did a little research. Didnt find much favourable so a pass it up.

As far as notebook is concerned this may seem a good upgrade which it is, due to the memory and faster components..FSB etc.

But when you consider a netbook the difference is very minimal at the most. Also this value range has memory timing of 5-5-5 wheras most netbook come with 4-4-4 timing which may affect performance.

The performance gain with single stick of RAM is dismal at most.mostly due to throttling and 5400rpm hard drive to save power which is what netbook is all about. This means that there can be space on memory but hard disk is soo slow to fill them.

The real performance gain will not be in cpu area eg arithmetic, encoding etc but in memory intensive apps like photoshop that you are unlinkely to run heavy duty on a netbook

consider all the above before messing with the power optimised default configuration of the netbook.I personally opted out of the upgrade as it reflects very little on performance gained per every £ spend. Also i would end up with a useless 1gb RAM as well..:santa:

the bench marks are here

Excellent deal - ordered 4Gb for my Dell Latitude D530 to replace the 2 x 512 sticks I have in there.

Would this work on a sony vaio netbook? Where does it go only place I could see would be express card slot. Any guidance would be appreciated as netbook is short of memory.
#15
Excellent find. I've been wanting to upgrade my Acer netbook since I got it.
Cheers Op.

Hot Hot Hot, if only it was DDR2 800Mhz

To install the extra memory you will need to open your netbook (usually is a pain to add extra memory on netbook as you will need to remove the keyboard to be able to change the RAM)

For all those who can't be bothered to research their laptop's requirement before posting:
go to http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx, enter your details and see if yours is compatible.

As it happens, both the Dells Inspirion 1520 and the Dell Inspiron (taking a guess with the Inspiron bit) 1720 are...

However, since some laptops are somewhat tricky to open those who can't even do the basic research should perhaps pay somebody to do the upgrade for them?

will this work on an acer one aspire 150 netbook?

Excellent price, Dane Electric memory has been around for a long time, it's middle of the range, I've used it for desktops and laptops a few times and never had a problem, this is at least as good as what you'd get in most laptops and netbooks.

I'm being a bit lazy here but does anyone know where I might be able to get some reasonably priced DDR333 SO-DIMM memory for my laptop? Bit old, I know, and it can only take 1GB!!

Any help would be great - cheers :santa:

Just ordered and heat added! Was going to order some RAM later and was expecting to pay about £30 for it!

MrMemory.co.uk is pretty decent for RAM , good service , quick delievery and there is a menu system for finding the correct RAM.

This forum is here to make people aware of bargains and good deals.

However some seem to think that it's perfectly reasonable to ask a technical question instead of making the effort themselves to look up the specifications of their own computer. When you ask somebody on here to do the work for you, they will have to go googling for the information as they are not likely to know everything about your own specific computer.

Try to spend a little time researching your own equipment. This has already been hinted at on here, but I'm just emphasising the point.

Or they could just search for and download the free program CPU-Z which will tell them everything they need to know about the inside of their machine.

Might be able to get it here (site is blocked at my work)......http://download.cnet.com/CPU-Z/3000-2086_4-10050423.html

Voted hot! Been looking for this for a while now, but only ever found for around £30. My son's netbook will be getting the upgrade very soon.

You can see what memory your system can use at Crucial's site :

I tend to lean towards the somewhat more hardline approach; if you have to ask, the answer is "NO". That way, you save people from breaking their expensive toys.

price has gone up by £10. damn hukd :(

Im sorry but I disagree. A deal is only valuable if it works with your kit. This particuar deal is not appropriate for my computers, but theres nothing wrong with checking with other forum members if they are able to help. You dont have to reply. For example in my area loads of kids have the Samsung NC10- local schools encouraged parents to purchase, and the single reply could potentially help lots of people. Only my opnion.
