Came across this new range on the online Ikea store. Similar products in the market start from around £9.99 (belkin cushion).

This unit works similarly to Belkin hence why I thought it would be good to post it.

Happy days!

Looks uncomfortable, I use the belkin one, and sits nicely on your lap as the front is elevated slightly too.

Just looks like it will bend your hands back and dig in to your legs.
#3
Canny complain unless you've used it ;)

Tbh, looks decent enough - especially at the price tag its at.
#4
Looks good! But I refuse to go near an Ikea store. Too many mouth breathers and old ladies fussin over sofas!
#5
does not look comfortable like the belkin one but for 2,99 you cant go wrong
#6
laptop will overheat from below as there is no fan or airing for it
#7
Jeezus, what a useless piece of plastic! Imagine putting a 3kg laptop on top of that plastic and have the combined weight into your thighs!!!
#8
Price is good but product rubbish. Not voted.

They had something like this in Poundland a few weeks ago.

Watch Kevin Smith's 'Clerks'. You'll understand then. :p

A laptop will only overheat if it's vents (usually located on the back and sides) are blocked, like if you use a pillow as a support and the laptop sinks into it.

Resting the laptop on a flat surface like this support or a table will keep the vents clear and the laptops internal fans will keep it cool enough.

That's about as much like a Belkin Cushtop as I'm like Kylie Minogue

Ikea, home of the terminally tasteless.
#16
Far better off getting the Belkin, this looks like it'll dig into your legs causing discomfort, nowhere near similar to the Belkin cushtop. Sometimes cheapest just isn't the best.
#17
Looks poor and will be uncomfortable.
How stupid to make it out of plastic.
Not worth even £1
Sorry but this has to be cold.
#18
Well, had this Ikea product been near the £9.99 mark - I would of said that you should go for the Belkin. However, theres little to argue in this scenario if this is a fraction of the price of the Belkin.

Yes, well worth cutting off your circulation for. :)
I can't imagine who designed such a thing.

It may be a fraction of the price, but if the product is pretty hopeless it isn't a bargain at £2.99.
Would be £2.99 wasted, as you'd want to buy the Belkin after using it.
Could come in useful as some form of ice scraper though :whistling:

Can't say anything about it until you've used it.

Welcome to the world of speculation.

Not voted - you can't bad mouth a product just because it looks silly/uncomfortable if you haven't tried it.

snobbish!

you must be a regular guardian reader, maybe economist

Ikea is a perfect place for people with fast pace life and relatively limited means. eg, students moving around all the time.

back to topic, this plastic thing looks very uncomfortable and the colour is wrong, I can not live with bright yellow.

personally, this will suit me more as my laptop often sits on the bed next to me or ontop of the blankets, i thought the belkin one was a little to bulky for my needs.
hot deal for me thanks op

I think this one from ikea is miiles better and worth the extra cash :-

I bought one last xmas and works great on the sofa or in bed, it has a bean bag style filling in the base so fits the contours of your lap.
#26
laptop will over heat lmao.... probably a reviewer who trusts no one and is locked away with the x files...lol...

stick with the belkin, i had this bought for me and promptly gave it away it was so rubbish....

Presumably you've bought it (as it's such a bargain), then you try setting with a laptop on your knees as per the pic, and see how long you can stand it).
Hint: sometimes things are reduced for a reason.

I haven't bought it.

Hint: if you read the website closely, presumably with glasses on - ITS NOT a reduced product, its a 'NEW' product which implies its a newly released offering.

Jeez.

I wouldn't buy this.
It doesn't look like it will be any good for me or a lot of other people.
Have a Dell laptop, which isn't light.
Dislike the garish yellow colour as well.
In my opinion, it just looks cheap and nasty.

(Sign) Spelling it out to someone who seemingly has an understanding problem, it's reduced BECAUSE it's obviously so uncomfortable that no-one in their right mind would/has bought it, and any normal person would be able to tell that simply by looking at it. Because it's so useless they've had to reduce the price. Simple, isn't it.

Jeez

What is this about then?

Looks pretty cheap and tacky to be honest would rather pay an extra £5-10 for a decent Belkin 1.
