They refunded my money.

Same here but I've already redeemed the code so I don't know if they're going to steal my game back!
#18
Got a refund but my wife was too slow to redeem it.
#19
I got my refund... Nothing from gamersgate... 40 mins of gameplay in though and having a blast haha may have to try and smash it now before it gets removed from my account!
#20
Refunded here.. that will teach me not to redeem. shifty practice though.
#21
Worth a shot. It'll be this price in 3 months time due to the 5-6 hour campaign. Just have to wait now.

They cant remove it from steam.
Firstly, you paid for a product and that product was delivered so under UK law a contract is in force.

Secondly, steam have a policy of games being non transferable once a key is downloaded.

If they remove mine then I will be straight onto trading standards.

The way they've handled this doesn't surprise me tbh. Poor show not to at least e-mail folk as a courtesy though.

If I recall they are the same bunch that offered a 'permanent' 15% discount to IGN Prime members and then withdrew it at very short notice. They sent off an e-mail to IGN terminating the agreement just after the IGN team had knocked off for thanksgiving which meant they returned to a ****storm of angry members.

People who contacted Gamersgate were fobbed off with semantics. Apparently when they said 'permanent' they meant that it was permanent in the sense that you didn't need to enter the discount code each time you purchased and it in no way related to a time period..... :|

After that debacle I hadn't touch them again until today but figured I'd take advantage of their apparent mis-price. To get the game for free was an unexpected bonus though!

Bit of a mess this - got the email from paypal regarding the refund (nothing from gamergate themselves mind) but had already applied the key to steam.

Have to see how this pans out.

Can be removed and has been before. UK law does not matter. You were refunded. Trading Standards will do nothing. Not to say it will be removed but it is entirely possible. Hope everybody gets to keep the game most companies do nowadays knowing the backlash from customers.

Yes, they should have emailed with an explanation but they were well within their rights to refund. As others have posted on this site, for £3 more you can still get the game itself - https://uk.gamesplanet.com/game/lara-croft-and-the-temple-of-osiris--2669-1

I suppose the thing to do is finish the game whilst you still have it.

Or to be honest just acquire it through other means. Sorry but they screw with you, you screw them back.

Seems jaystan is spot on.

Just logged into Steam and got the following notification:

"Your recent Product code activation has been revoked due to a problem processing payment for this item. The games associated with this product code can no longer be played as a result. This could be due a problem with the payment methods you used to acquire this item from a third-party seller; or a problem with how the third-party seller acquired the Product code. Please contact the seller you acquired the Product code from for assistance.

If you would like to purchase the item, please visit the Steam Store. Otherwise you may choose to delete the local content associated with these games."

Win some, lose some. Although in this case a draw seems to have been the outcome and reminder that Gamersgate clearly didn't read the dummy's guide to communicating with your customers.

The hell they revoked my game and got a warning!!!!!
#32
Surely this isn't legal despite what people are saying. I seem to recall the law being changed/implemented recently to state that digital games were the property of the purchaser and not all this 'license to rent' rubbish steam goes on about. I bought the game, I redeemed it, I installed it & I played it. For them to then throw my money back and take it off me because they didn't want to sell it at that price just doesn't sound lawful.

I got a PayPal refund and the game was deleted from my Steam account with the above warning. No explanation from Gamersgate at all.

I have emailed Gamersgate and will never use them again. Terrible customer service,

To make matters worse when I look at my Paypal account 3 days later my balance still doesn't reflect the refund. I can see the refund having been made but my balance remains at £0.00 and Paypal seem to have place a temporary hold on things with the following message "PayPal has placed a temporary hold while we're reviewing it. We'll contact you shortly with further information.".

So right now I have no game and no money back in my account. Seriously disappointed with Gamersgate and makes me wondered if they've flagged the transaction to Paypal in some way as I'm not sure what there is to review....

Refunds are silly with paypal I had this problem recently with an accidental purchase of a game my son had already owned with xbox and it said the same, I contacted paypal and they said it takes about 2 weeks.

To add to this, I just can't believe they didn't just take the hit, Not as if it was a massive pricing error. It probably would have cost them a couple of quid at most so now they have lost my custom as I have used them for loads in the past.
Poor show gamersgate!

Ah, that's good to hear. After the warning on Steam I was starting to get a bit worried about what Gamersgate are doing behind the scenes e.g. reporting transactions as suspicious activity. Thanks for putting my mind at ease!

Stumbled across a thread elsewhere where they'd revoked keys for another game again due to a mistake on their part. Some of the folks who complained to them got a very unapologetic response inferring that they'd tried to scam Gamersgate. Nothing like taking responsibility for your own mistakes....

As you say this'll probably cost them a lot more in lost sales than it would if they'd just honoured their mistake. Very short term thinking imho.

Removing games that have already been purchased from people's steam accounts without telling them is really bad customer service. A black mark against them, and against Steam for allowing them the facility to abuse it. I haven't had a refund through Paypal, not even an email to say it's happening, even if the money hasn't been put back yet. I haven't had any correspondence from GG, just the scary 'We've removed the game because shenanigans' message from Steam. They also haven't responded to my customer support email.

Steam has to allow it. The keys are allocated to Gamersgate. If they ask for them to be revoked they have to. This is all down to Gamersgate.
