Im recently split from my mrs, and am now doing my own ironing... I have one of these steel mesh topped ironing boards and I get a nice inprint of the mesh on my clothes!

I have a cover on the board with a foam underlay - I have to iron with a double folded towel on top of the board!

any suggestions?

Been there. I had never so much as touched an un-ironed shirt in 20 years! :-(
The good news is, 12 years on, I now have BETTER ironed stuff! Actually there are a LOT of things that can be done better without a wife! :-)

The boards usually have a felt like layer too - well mine does - I am looking for a new board (hence looking at this thread) and must be careful about what I do buy in case the new one hasn't!

The real trick is: throw the iron into the bin, (I threw mine into the garden after the iron I had dribbled brown gunk over the clean shirt I NEEDED urgently!) and get a decent STEAM GENERATOR unit: use less arm pressure, twice the speed, better results - but make sure you get a one with good steam output - 4 bars pressure, not less (tried them, useless) and leave stuff hanging for a while so that they dry out enough.

I bought this ironing board a while ago, didn't last very long, bulky and a nuisance to put up - don't bother!

Thats what I was afraid of, it is a lot different structure to most boards

This was on offer at least six months ago too, as i considered it, but instead went for a girly pink and cream one, still from Argos, with a very large surface and it holds my steam generator.
