suffice to say, a lot longer than if you spent the £9.77 on bags of apples

Yer takes a while but good care and the benefits will be great!

Also will attract wildlife, including the rare park bench Hobo!

Actually if you plant the apple or pear tree today you might get half a dozen small fruits by early autumn. Plums, cherrys, etc take a few years to bear fruit.
#7
Voted cold, as I can get Fruit trees twice this size at the local garden centre for 22 pence more.

Hmmm, these have doubled from last year. They were £4.99 and I planted cherry, pear and apple. Some nice blossom but no fruit yet.

"Some nice blossom but no fruit yet"
Apple and Pear trees usually (not always depends on variety) need to be planted within 100 or so metres of another, as the blossom is required for pollination by bees ;)
Some trees will be sexless, not all. Planted now - you may get fruit this year, but its the many other years that will make it more worth it.

I was going to get one of these. A mate told me that they aren't very good. You could say that I heard it on the grape vine.................. :whistling:

VInes will be v slow in this climate where ever you buy them from. They are also picky about the soil they are in.

Voted hot, they are twice this price at gardens centres near me and I can't get the bl**dy things in the car!!I don't mind how long they take to fruit - they look good growing!!

looked at these in my local Lidl - they're quite small despite the title. Anyone know who they'd do planted in a pot? Haven't the room for a full sized tree
