We've got it, had it 3 years, it's survived dogs getting on it, and a 10 month old baby, plus us slobbing over it. I wash mine down once a month with baby wipes lol....it brings back the shine. Excellent value at this price.
#7
I have had one about a year and it looks ok but the puffyness has all gone and its uncomfortable sitting on. I would not get get I might be to fat for it thou, i am 13 stone.
#8
i have 2 of these

iv had them about 2 months and yes they are comfortable and despite the low price you dont sink in the seats like some i have sat on

keeping clean is easy to,just wipe over with a wet wipe

would deff recommend to any one
#9

Having worked within the sofa industry for many years, in both high-range and cheap companies, I can tell you that it is most likely what is called 'bicast' leather. This, actually, is the same as what the 'PU' leather is on the side. In order to be classed as leather within UK manufacturing and selling, it only needs to be 40% leather, the rest can be made up of man-made materials such as PVC.

This is why companies such as DFS and Land of Leather can afford to sell what they advertise as leather sofas for £300, whereas top-brand companies such as MultiYork and Sofa Workshop charge £1,000+. 100% leather hides, or cow skins, cost £250 upwards, and most sofa's of this size use 3-4 hides in themselves. Ask Argos what the percentage of leather is in their sofas, they won't be able to say 100% as it's not true.

In comparison, this is the same leather that is generally used within cars. Easy to wipe down thanks to the man-made materials within in such as PVC, but the dye will eventually come out or the leather will 'crack' or 'chip'.

If you're looking at leather furniture in-store, 100% leather will be warm to the touch, regardless of the weather you're looking at it. Bicast always feels cold and rather plastic-like. Also, if it has a shine such as this sofa, you can pretty much guarantee that it's not 100% leather. Since when have you seen a shiny cow? ;)

Not a knock on the sofa, it's great for the price and I have voted hot. Just wanted to let people know the difference :)

20% only works on the large brown or regular black, so you cannot actually get discount on a full suite of either coour

i learnt something today!

Not bad at that price.

The 40% refers to 40% total area
bicast as in pu in some parts (back sides etc)
leather the rest

the leather area is leather not plastic injected leather or whatever

It actually doesnt. Like I said, ask in somewhere like DFS or Argos and they'll not be able to say 100% leather, but they are able to say Genuine Leather. 'Leather' with companies such as DFS is never 100% leather. Check it out, ask leather companies and even the companies that sell it and they'll agree.

The following are not 'true' leathers, but contain leather material. Depending on jurisdiction, they may still be labeled as "Genuine Leather."
Bicast leather is a man-made product that consists of a thick layer of polyurethane applied to a substrate of low-grade or reconstituted leather. Most of the strength of bicast leather comes from the polyurethane coating. Bicast was originally made for the shoe industry and recently was adopted by the furniture industry. The original formula created by Bayer was fairly strong, but expensive. Most of the Bicast used today is created using inferior generic chemicals resulting in an inferior material. The result is a much stiffer product that tends to de-laminate, resulting in bubbles and cracking.

I thought most cheap leather sofas where made of split corrected?

They are made of split corrected leather mixed with other man-made products. Read my post above if you want more info. They're 'genuine leather' but not '100% leather' :)

Because bicast leather is fundamentally a man-made product, some jurisdictions (such as New Zealand and the United Kingdom) have ruled that it cannot be marketed as leather.

If you're not too worried about getting the 20% off the smaller sofa you can get a small & large (after Quidco) for £389 inc delivery. That's a bargain in my eyes. I've had Argos sofa's before & I'd have them again, I'm sorely tempted
