Unless I've got this wrong wasn't the 8Gb iPod Touch £149 this time last year? If so why has it gone up so much since then?

You also have to remember that you are paying extra for the privilege of owning an Apple product. It might be an mp3 player with a camera but its an APPLE mps player and camera :p

been looking around for one of these - this works out the best deal

Looks like the £15 voucher only applies to nano's now... So not such a good deal.
If I buy one of these from US, which works out at £180 for 32gb 4th gen. Are there any compatability problems apart from the warranty if anything happens to it?

This deal has expired and I quote from the terms and conditions:

"TERMS & CONDITIONS
To get a £15 Amazon.co.uk promotional gift certificate when you buy an iPod touch:

Buy any Apple iPod touch from Amazon.co.uk between 18:00 November 11, 2010 and midnight on November 16, 2010 and within a week we'll e-mail you a £15 Amazon.co.uk Promotional Gift Certificate that can be spent on anything you like from Amazon.co.uk. Simply use the promotion code which appears on your e-mail gift certificate when you make your next purchase, and £15 will be deducted from your order total at checkout. The promotion code can only be used once, so to take full advantage of your gift certificate, be sure that the value of your order is £15 or more before you check out.

But hurry—promotional gift certificates must be used by 23:59 GMT on December 31, 2010. "

Having just bought a 32GB 4th generation Ipod myself on Sunday from Amazon I received an email this morning with a promotional code that can be redeemed against any purchase (if bought from Amazon and not a third party seller) for the value of £3!!!!
