£790 at Amazon, including shipping: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-LE40R74BDX-Widescreen-Ready-Freeview/dp/B000F4RC4I/ref=pd_sbs_ce_3/203-0983076-1948735
The essential missing specification from your list: 5000:1 contrast ratio

or for £860 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000O12E7W/nextaguk_rt-21/ref=nosim
The Amazon one is the LE40R87, with a 15000:1 contrast ratio and 1920x1080 panel instead of a 1366x768 panel. Hmm, actually I think Amazon have got the wrong description here as it says 46" ... yeah the comment says it isn't a full HD panel. At 10 foot you probably couldn't see the difference though.

Its only an extra 1 yrs warranty actually & you have to pay £20 for the members card for it . The reason behind this is because ALL electrical goods in ALL EU states are covered for 2 yrs warranty anyway & expensive electrical goods are covered for " fit for purpose " operating for a period of up to 5 yrs .

I've been out today & had a few drinks , sorry again , no excuse .

I've actually got this TV in 26" format , great picture etc BUT the sound out of the speakers needs to be cranked up a bit as they aren't all that good . They fire downwards onto what is the silver streak at the bottom to be reflected outwards .

Kinda true, the UK opted out of that legistation so dosent apply in the UK.

Yes you could argue it should be fit for purpose and why you are battling it out in court for several months and being without a TV you could just be ringing up the warranty company and getting it fixed in a few days without hassle, normally i dont bother with warranties but if they are free (John Lewis) or very cheap like the Empire one its worth buying one.
