Im sure many people will find them entertaining...

Personally id rather pick the veins out of my scrotum but that doesnt detract from it being a deal for someone.

Just not my cup of tea!

17. Swiss Miss / Animal Shorts
is my favourite.
You can't get anything funnier than L&H with a guy in a chimp suit

i honestly paid £168 from wh smiths for this boxset when it first came out about 6-7 years ago . it is awesome . so for £35 its a steal !

Amazing price for the most amazing comic pairing. The only people that don't laugh are either in a coma or hate the fact that no-one swears and no-one throws up or talks about sex.

Great find.

Or doesnt like slapstick humour!
I prefer a more cerebral type of entertainment.

But as i say, a good deal for those who enjoy this kind of thing!

There's also the distinct lack of alien races and space battles to consider.....

I'm not sure these are out of copyright yet. The term of the copyright is the last surviving principal director or author plus 70 years, must be getting close though :whistling:

I'm sure you can buy and own the copy rights at any stage or time. Are you sure you're not getting confused with royalty payments and the laws of slander?

No not confusing royalty payments or libel laws. When you buy a DVD you do not own the copyright you are licensed a right to view the films. The previous person was querying whether the films were now out of copyright which would mean you could legally make copies of the films by for example downloading them from the internet without infringing the rights of the authors. I was just saying that I think the rights of the authors are still active.

May favourite scene of theirs is when they're in a bar and the public pay phone rings, Stan answers it and just says "it sure is" and then hangs up and sits back down. Ollie asks him who it was and Stanley just replies "it was just some guy saying it's a long distance from Chicago".

The 70 year copyright is mistake. If this were the case Disneys Snow White would be in the public domain which it clearly isnt. Copyright on motion pictures can be renewed. Films which copyright has not been renewed either by mistake or bankruptcy can be found (and downloaded) here

Laurel and Hardy are far more than mere slapstick! The timing, the jokes and the well observed social situations far outstrip much of todays offerings. By 'cerebral' you underestimate these two.
What would you put forward as 'cerebral' comedy today?

good bargain and ordered , however play.com chose to send me the hitchcock collection instead. then had spend 10 minutes on the phone (majority on hold) to sort it out. voted hot, but wish i had gone to amazon, play.com are rubbish
