They were a good slapstick duo. This would make a good xmas present to people of that era. Heat added :-) xx

Doesn't matter how many times I see this posted... It's worth £1000.

I'm trying to think of something i would less like to buy with my own money. I can't.

The only thing that spoils it for me is that some of the films/ shorts have been re-mastered in colour.
#7
Just wanted to know if this is instore too? or just online? because if its available instore then theres a possible 10% student discount :-D which makes it cheaper than this price :)

All the films that are in colour have their black and white versions as well, This isnt the complete collection because it doesnt include the films they were forced to make for MGM when they were old, which are only sad to see anyway. For anyone as geeky as me;

This set is not the original set, there are three :-

Set with silver writing on the box, each DVD has a booklet with it.

Set with silver writing with no books

Set with black writing and no books (That is this one)

I bought this set a while ago and was disappointed to find it didnt have the books inside so I ended up collecting them all seperately and putting them in this box, so now I have two sets .............'Heres another fi-nancial mess I've got myself into'

Anyway, its still the ultimate set for Stan and Ollie fans

Long live Stan and Ollie !

Love these guys and never get to see them on TV these days for some reason. I might sound a bit cheap here but this still seems pretty expensive for very old movies (I just know I am going to get some stick for saying this) :w00t:

One more point: Will these ever be able to be remastered for HD beause it might be worth waiting.

Probably because we've all gone yank style and all love Friends and the like... Not to mention Little Britain, Kate & Russel Brand, and stuff like that.:lazy:

Stan was a good Northern lad from good old Blighty before anyone tries to point out the eror of my ways!! ;-)

We want Laurel & Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd & Buster Keaton back on BBC2 every night 6pm to 7pm. :friends:

is this like a retro Cannon and Ball for the 21st Century!!?

I would just like to know, people who buy dvd box sets/Collections..... how do they get the time to watch all the dvd's. Especially in this case of 21 dvd's. 2 or 3 years ago I bought series 9 and 10 of friends. Each has 4 discs. To this day I have only watched 2 or 3 episodes from each series. You'd have to be really bored of terrestial TV or have a back to back laurel and hardy dvd marathon for 1 or 2 weekends.

Depends how much you like what you have purchased, I watched complete 5 series of NCIS over 2 weeks, did something similar to that with 24, also watched complete Twin Peaks over a week. On all occasions I'm usually on holiday when I watch things back to back, but it can definately be done as long as it is good.

for those of us who are lucky enough to work full time (or unlucky enough depending on your viewpoint!) there arn't enough hours in the day

my OH is ill and bedridden at the moment.

Ordered these when they were last posted and they arrived perfectly just as the olympics finished (that had entertained him for 2 weeks).

We all roared laughing at the 2 tars which we havn't seen for 10 years and is impossible to find.

These classics have kept him sane when all else including sky tv failed.

Long live Laurel & Hardy !

People of that era? I can't wait until I sit down with my kids & go through all these dvd's again & again, I promise you there will be tears of laughter, I grew up watching these & my father did too & I bet my grandchildren do as well.

I bought this set about 4 years ago It came in a very heavy quality box, the disks came with booklets that contained loads of facts and trivia and the cases themselves where white and heavy quality.
I looked at a set in Zavvi the box was cheaply made and the disks came in standard cases with no booklets, looks like this set is designed to sell a discount as the original was a £200 set that was discounted. very poor not to include the booklets as they must only cost a few pence to print!

Arrived this morning, beautifull box, no booklets inside the cases though.

Back down to £49.99 again.
