Just had email form Tesco wine offering me half price Le Prince du Logis Chateauneuf du Pape.

You need code XXTTFT to take the price down from £72.00 to £36.00.

There are only 1500 codes available, so you need to be quick.

Free delivery because the price is £72.00 when you get through to the delivery page and it's free for orders of £50+

And 2% Quidco possible too.

I tried 4 cases at first, but the code just took £36.00 off. So not worth trying.

Thanks just ordered was gonna get some for Xmas day anyway.. Xxx

Won't work for me!

Weirdly just REMOVED the extra wine to get free delivery and it then kept the free delivery and applied the voucher!

Just the CDP for £36 with free delivery

Thanks OP

That's what I wanted it for too. Don't know what I'm going to do with the other 5 bottles though. (_;)

Just worked for me, as the order is £72 when you get to the delivery stage you don't pay for delivery either, no need to buy some other cheap plonk to make it up to £50 ;) many thanks OP

Brilliant! Just ordered this and you don't need to add anything for free delivery! Added voucher code and picked a day for delivery and still showed as free, £36.00 in total. Thank You :)

Is this any good then?

Every time I've forked out for a Chateauneuf du Pape over the years it's ranged from disappointing to downright horrible. Haven't actually ever found a nice one.

The code will not work for me. I wonder if it is because I am in Scotland. Tears

I think you have to pay good money for good cdp, up to the point that it is not worth the premium. I have in past years had lovely cdp but also awful. Why not try Gigondas, Vacqueyras, or a named (village) cotes du rhone villages.

I used to live in France, and in the days before the Euro, when wine was much cheaper there, I still never had a good bottle even when paying the equivalent of £12 to £20 a bottle. I'm sure there are good vintages but I've been really unlucky, or uneducated to manage to buy a dud every time.

Agree about Cotes du Rhone Villages though. Pretty consistently good. Even the poor ones are drinkable. Quite a lot of the Chateauneufs I've tried have tasted worse than the 1 Euro a bottle plonk.

I am often in France and the price of cdp surprises me. That said if you have the stores loyalty cards the price of wine on offer is very cheap.

You can argue if its not worth even £6. Judging by reviews you could probably get something far better for £6. Unless the label impresses that much.

OOS Doh!

Topcashback calculated against the original price so with cashback it is £5.50 a bottle.

Vivino average is 3.7/5 for this vintage and there is a favourable review on Cellartracker.

For that money it looks fairly safe to get half a dozen. Compare it to the sort of trash available for £5.50 even with discounts rather than to serious Chateauneuf from Beaucastel and the like. Thank you!

It's a particular style that some people absolutely love and others don't get on with. Marmite effect.

I used to live in France, and in the days before the Euro, when wine was much cheaper there, 1 Euro a bottle plonk.

1 Euro a bottle is the expensive recent stuff then?
