Nice reduction, but only a 1500 HH

For tent-newbies out there... is that extremley bad?
#8
most tents that are posted on here are only 1500 HH that is why they are cheap, you get what you pay for. If you were out for a few days of rain in these then the best of luck to you, but if going the south of france, then they are great lol

Dunno, most people recommend 2000+ HH for English weather.

not knowing anything about tents and the whole camping thing. My kids school are doing a camp over BBQ in a couple of weeks. would this be ok for that type of usage, I am not planning on using it alot but there are going to be a few of us and this seems very cheap. any thoughts ? ::)

From outandaboutlive.co.uk :
Materials

The ability of a material to repel water in measured in terms of its hydrostatic head.

This is its theoretical ability to withstand the pressure of a column of water, measured in millimetres, without allowing any of it to penetrate.
Virtually all tents sold in this country will have a hydrostatic head measurement of 1,500mm, comfortably over the minimum 800mm that is required for it to be claimed as waterproof. A rating of 2,000mm should cope with any conditions you are ever likely to encounter.

Can't go wrong for this size/price. Make sure when you put it up you think about ventilation. a tent with just two people in the roof can be dripping from exhaled condensation by morning. Unless it is actually raining, you should try to leave flaps and windows open.

Also trry not to let the outer touch the inner, as rainwater can be drawn inside the tent. A tent will reach very high temperatures during the day, so leave all the flaps/windows open when possible.

Is 1500HH capable of taking the odd can of ale, and the inevitable Shandy pants doing one up the side of your tent?

Or is it not fit for Glastonbury?!? :w00t: :giggle:

Ordered one, but had to complete on the phone as stuck in a loop at checkout.
Good telephone manner by their sales who did phone me back to say they would give a 5% discount for the "summer" code even after the order was completed.
Heat for OP.

I have to say just to look at it looks cheap and nasty

Watch out for the HH rating as a colleague of mine just got caught out with buying a 1500 HH tent, thinking it compared well to others on their site - probably not great for camping in the UK! Also, I bought a Rage tent from this site last year, and the instructions were virtually non-existant and when I phoned them for help they just sent through the same useless information again.

I am a noob!

I bought a Leben Tent from tentastic last year and used it at Easter in the UK. Like previous posters have said 1500HH is just about passable for what tends to be an average british summer.

Like this tent, my leben tent had sewn-in groundsheets only in the bedroom areas and the bedroom material is quite thin so it is extremely draughty. It also does tend to collect quite a lot of condensation when 4 people are in it overnight.

I have since traded up to a £400+ tent which is luxury compared to the Leben.

At this price it is probably ideal for Glasto or the V festival, where it doesn't matter if it gets ripped to shreds and is an extremely good starter tent to find out if you enjoy camping.

A 6 man tent might be a little too big for me.

Can anyone offer any advice on which of the following is the best?

http://www.tentastic.co.uk/leben-erfurt-2.html

or

http://www.tentastic.co.uk/tents/3-4-man-tents/gelert-eiger-3.html

Edit: Bah, Gelert out of stock anyway. Damnit, I need a good, cheap, 2-3 man tent!

Would it be big enough for a small wedding reception?

I'm getting married in September & I'd dearly love a Marquee wedding reception, but my garden isn't very big & I don't have that many friends.
