These have been in Poundland for the last few months so not a new deal. I actually used the one I bought yonks ago yesterday, and yeap you're spot on VERY BRIGHT!

Best to wear it on top of a hat as the elastic really makes the back of the torch dig in.

I cant think of a reason to buy these but damn they are cool ! Hang on a minute my dads a truck driver so perhaps he might need a pair for when he is checking the back of his truck for potential terrorists at Calais before crossing over to England .

ps - An SA-80 might be appropriate but these will do and if they are as bright as you guys say he may be able to dazzle the terrorists enough to put them off whilst he slams the door back shut !

ideal for fishing... not great at range but brilliant for in and around the bivvy.

Got a similar one from a cheap shop in Haslingden and paid £2.00. These are the same make, and they are quite good.
#16
I can't imagine the thought process for the person that sources these for poundland
#17
better than that one you get with the call of duty game
#18
Head-torches rock. I had a few similar to this in the past and they were fine but they all broke at the mount where the straps fit onto the torch. Also because the batteries are in the front the weight tended to make them uncomfortable after a time. I now have some more expensive ones from DealExtreme where the batteries sit in a separate box at the back of the head, much more comfortable but a lot more than £1 each.

Car booters use these - my 1st ever car boot sale - talk about a babtism of fire.... picture this, me and my sister at 5am a freezing November morning - all these guys kept popping up with the said head lights on glaring into our faces - any golden mobiles? No. Any golden mobiles? No. I turn to my sister - whats with the golden mobiles? Turns out they are asking if we have any GOLD or MOBILE PHONES!! Lol! Anyway I thought it was funny - especially as I've had a couple of glasses (?) of the Cockburns Port - as reported earlier in the week @ £5.95 - very nice.

Good story made me chuckle !

Not new but great value. Every bit as good as the £5+ ones elsewhere.

My wife got me one of these a few weeks ago and I went running with it tonight. Quite impressed and as mentioned earlier, the range isn't that great but at least I could see when running in the pitch black down the side of the canal as it's pretty damn bright...

They use LED so probably ages. Stuck some cheapish batteries in it and used it for over an hour and still just as bright.

It's a quid! What more do you want?

I got one used it over 5 festivals this summer and at a couple fo raves, Would guess it was used for around 2 hours a day at the festivals and for about 8 hours at raves... so about 30 hours

It may be only a quid but if it used the batteries in half an hour it wouln't have been a good buy.

Your 30 hrs on a set of batteries sounds great.
#39
Hot for £1 if you are going camping or are camping at a music festival or something. Fine for the average user. I'd suggest not getting the £1 batteries in store, unless you know they are half decent ones (ie not Panasonic, or Sony or other ones like that who do general poor batteries)
