Kids love em. It does not respond to the sound well though. There are other options, visit B&M shop for same price and alternatives as well.

I've been looking for one for my son.

Have been searching Amazon, but by looking at the reviews there are a small percentage of people saying that certain models were recalled due to safety issues and some people reporting others starting to smoke.

I'm not saying this is the case with this model and I guess it could happen to anything, but always wary with no name Chinese imports (especially when I was going to be using it in my sons room overnight (even though we have smoke alarms in the children's rooms)).

Saves shelling out for a fog machine then :p

I bought something similar a couple of years ago from Ebay, though I don't think it has the display and microphone socket. It worked for a little while, then the rotation of the light stopped. A cog in the gearbox was out of alignment. IIRC I fixed it by making a shim out of a piece of yogurt pot lid and it still works now. It certainly adds a lot to a home disco set up but the mechanism is noisy - you wouldn't want to use it chilling out to something ambient, and it needs to be close to a speaker for the sound response to work. I think, by all accounts, the cheap ones all seem to be pretty much the same sort of quality - cheap and cheerful fun when they work - and cheap tat when they don't.
